I knew I should have read the link outside of work, as the information is there.... it is just not written in the section related to Prepaid Data but nestled further down in the Mobile Broadband Plans (user error, but could have been written/structured a little better - I see point of reuse/common info etc)

Mobile Data (includes Data plans and Extras)

For Telecom mobile customers on prepaid, you will be charged for the first set amount of eligible data usage per month at $1 per MB and receive your remaining allocated eligible data usage free (at $0.00 per MB). For example, if you've subscribed to the 1 GB mobile broadband plan you will be charged $1 per MB for the first 55 MB and the next 945 MB are free. If you do not exceed the first set amount of eligible data usage, you will only be charged for what you use that month and not the monthly fee. For example, if you've subscribed to the 1 GB mobile broadband plan and you use less than 55 MB of data per month then you will only be charged $1 per MB for what you use and not the $54.95 monthly fee

So it looks like it would help partly solve the issue, but looks like it will have a fixed monthly cycle date.

If reading correctly, if the time you need the data spans a week either side of your cycle date, you could be up for $110 for a fortnight of heavy use rather than $55 (even if only using 800MB)

Would be great to be able to buy a block of 1 or 2GB and then apply a 'month' expiry from the date of recharge/activation or to buy a larger block (say 15GB that can last 12mths).

Spoke to someone else who was more helpful, who just found out that their Intranet site has not been updated so he will look to source correct answers and call back

Never received the call back from Telecom.
