Comradehunt: I am on Flexi mytime 24 month, with 15/14 months to go. I called 123 and asked if I could go onto XT combo plan, and whether there would be any early disconnection fees, I was told no early disconnection fee...

I had to get off the phone for work, and called back later and got the outsourced call centre. I then asked them same question, they confirmed no early disconnection fee would be charged, and so I have ordered a phone, and organised that combo plan and txt600 too.

If those 2 call centre staff are right, then I will stay with XT and be happy on the combo/txt600 plan, but if they are wrong and I am going to be charged a disconnection fee, then they can have their XT phone back. I hope they haven't misled me...? I have had the run around so badly today.

No early disconnection fee is charged to you if you upgrade your phone to the XT Network, only if you are disconnecting from Telecom itself.

i finally had a glance at teh plans and subsidies on the Telcom site, and I thought the subsidies might have been bigger considering that most ppl on existing mytime plans etc would need to spend more each month on a contract. A$50 a month plan is only worth a $150 on a phone subsidy, wow kinda stink.
grats to those of you that have bitten the bullet and decided to sign up, but my $$ is gonna stay in my wallet till 2deg launshes (altho then I could be still disappointed, but I hope not). :-)

As Akia said you won't get a disconnection fee if you commit to 24 month term.

Your earlier question about early disconnection fees on open term, of course there is no disconnection charge that is what open term is, month to month with no minimum time of contract.

Sorry I think my earlier question before was unclear. I meant if I went from contract plan to open term, if there would be a disconnection fee to change, after all I'm sure they want to move as many people as they can to the new network.

Last year Telecom made a big mistake where I changed mobile broadband devices and was sent a $800 bill for early disconnection (which was incorrect), with just under 2 weeks to pay the bill. They sorted that out after I brought it to their attention. I'm just worried something similar may happen again. As a student I'm not exactly in a position to pay a $350 disconnection fee.

My advice is not to switch to XT, it is not worth it, like Simon14 said before (I think it was him anyway) wait for 2degrees mobile to launch and compare the plan, it will more than likely be worth the wait.
If you cannot wait that long, I would recommend Vodafone, although there is a definite disconnection fee with that.

As I wrote before if you are upgrading to any XT Mobile on Postpaid it will not cost with disconnecting as you are required to purchase a new plan, my oldest brother ordered one today and we also asked and was told that there is no early disconnection fee for that.
