Think of it as a 20 year old server with 20 year old hard disks running it..

nothing wrong with a bit of magnetic tape :P

The backup tapes died and had to be replace several years ago with either flash or hard disks..


their function has been replaced but they are still there.


Yeah ask the people in Pupukohoe how well Telecoms new NEAC hard drive based backup system is working!

Betcha the other exchanges backups are now checked daily hehe

its my understanding there was nothing wrong with the backup itself there was an issue with the data that was backed up that could not be forseen.

(btw im not trying to be a know it all smarta**)

My personal opinion is backups that you can't hit restore on arn't much of a backup at all, but I fear dragging this off-topic so I'll leave it at that.
