mruane: Greekiwi: Your approach makes perfect sense to me. I use POP3 to download my email from GMAIL but I keep a copy of all mail on GMAIL as a backup and so that I can access mail whilst away from the desktop.
So, no laughing from here, the approach is more than sensible to my mind, you have a copy of the mail in two places - on the server and your local PC. From that point of view its a better approach than IMAP.
Cheers Mike
I do the same thing: I permit deletion of emails from the server through one PC only, and even then only after 7 days.
