Loismustdye: I was interested if the mobile was on a contract ie, still had 18 months to go on the mobile contract and wanted a new phone. THats what happened when I upgraded my last one to the touch.

Although the mobile contract was also billed with the landline (ie only one bill) so whether that has any influence on being able to pay for the phone on the combined bill I don't know.

You can have deffered payments whether its in contract, out of contract, upgrading/replacing halfway through contract etc, doesn't matter whether it's on its own account or combined with other services. I've had it done heaps of times and there always seems to be various payment options.

However, important to note, you can only have a phone paid on your next bill or over 12 months (interest free) nothing more, nothing less.

Also, you can only have 1 lot of defferd payments going at a time. E.G if you get a nice shiny new XT phone and put it on deffered payments then decide you want another one in 5 months time, you can have it on deffered payments but the remaining payments for the old phone would be lumped up onto your next bill.

nzbnw: Call 128 on Monday and ask if they will give you an extension on your bill. Just be honest with them, after all honesty is the best policy.

Lol, I could do that, and tell them that if 123 had sent me the correct phone I ordered in the first place I would not have needed to buy the second one.

I take it you have sent the second one back and 123 have credited you or are you keeping both phones? 128 should be able to sort it out for you if you have sent the second one back through.

Yea i noticed that, I could only defer the whole cost of the phone, not put say 50% down etc.

Well this is an interesting bunch of answers. I bought my last phone from t/com store and put it on 12 months payment on my home phone bill. I also had prepay go one bill which was great.

When I bought my xt phone from same t/com store they said no go one bill, and no chance to pay off over 12 months on home phone. Was I told something wrong again? Seems a funny way to make money. If I could have paid off over 12 months I would have bought a more exp phone, if I could add bill to home phone I make more calls and texts.

Confirmation from others would be great.

So have you returned the first phone they sent you? As soon as they receive it they apply the credit for it. Or at least that's what happened when I did it. Whi will allow you to buy food at least. :)

They were correct about the Onebill  but we bought a R7 today and put it over 12 months on to our Telecom account which doesn't even have a landline on it just a couple of CDMA fones on Onebill.

My story is long and complicated, and I tend to be waffly, so would pad out too much. But basically I did not return the phone, and I bought another as they quoted me 6 working days to exchange the phone, and I needed a phone the next day for work. It wouldn't have been any drama at all if only I could have swapped the unopened phone in at a Telecom store, however they cannot do this, and I think in the future I will just buy from the dealers and never 123 again.

If I could walk into the store now and say, the phone I bought last week - I did not realise there was an option, nor was I advised, that it could be paid off over 12 months, can I take that option now? Then I would, but I'm sure now I have the bill it is too late. But I'd never heard anyone I work or socialise with say they had paid a phone off over 12 months so I did not know it was an option available.
