A question from my mother, last tiem she upgraded her phone on CDMA she was able to pay the phone cost over 12 months on her tcom bill, no interest etc. Are you able to do this with XT phones? or is it a pay up front for the handset type thing?

Any advice or confirmation/declination on this would be appreciated.
cheers

I believe you are required to take a 12 month contract on a plan to be able to do this.

Can def pay for the phone if on prepay on your Telecom bill. Unsure if they let you pay it off over a year though.

A) No you do not have to be on a contract term, if you are on an open term plan e.g onebill/combo, and you are 6 months through paying it off and then you decide you want to change to prepay then they will lump up the final 6 payments on the next bill

B) No, you cannot pay it on your account on prepay either on the next bill or over 12 months, the mobile charge has to be associated with a postpaid number.

I'm glad this topic came up.

I'm on Combo plan, signed up 2 weeks ago. Also have home line/internet with Telecom. This months bill which arrived last week is $799, of which thus far I have managed to pay about $370 to date. That is because 2 phones were charged to my bill.

When the bill was issued, there was only 2 weeks to pay, not very long to pay a $799 bill (I timed it wrong literally by hours (billing cycle), the $400 phone was supposed to go on the next months bill).

I can have the bill fully paid in under 2 weeks, but not in 1 week when its due. Will that mean I get a penalty charge? Is so, is it a percentage of whats unpaid, or percentage of entire original bill? Will there be credit rating ramifications for paying 5 days late??

@comradehunt, sounds unfortunate that the timing came down to a matter of hours. As far as LP fees go, I think for consumers it's a flat 7.50 fee, as far as credit ramifications, I very much doubt it, however it may be wise to check the T's and C's and the Telecom website. Also, if you talk nicely with their credit department I'm sure they might be happy to set up a time-to-pay arrangment (given the circumstances) Or you can ask one of the few Telecom people that are now floating around these forums. Good luck

Call 128 on Monday and ask if they will give you an extension on your bill. Just be honest with them, after all honesty is the best policy.

Correction, actually you can when ordered through a call centre. But this is not what the original poster was after so I'll leave it at that

EDIT:

To be clear; call centers can charge a prepaid device to your account, but deferred payments is only available through Telecom Stores and Dealers AFAIK.

I was interested if the mobile was on a contract ie, still had 18 months to go on the mobile contract and wanted a new phone. THats what happened when I upgraded my last one to the touch.
Although the mobile contract was also billed with the landline (ie only one bill) so whether that has any influence on being able to pay for the phone on the combined bill I don't know.

Lol, I could do that, and tell them that if 123 had sent me the correct phone I ordered in the first place I would not have needed to buy the second one.

I *can* pay it on time in fact, it just means other less urgent things will need to wait, ie food. I just posted here as there was talk about paying the phone off on one's bill over 12 months, I had never heard that one before, and if I knew it was in fact possible, I would have done it when I purchased the phone last week (or a lesser number of months if possible).
