I don't know anybody who has ever used Bit torrent to download any illegal software or videos.

Apart from everyone who has it.

The same can be said of the internet in general. I guess the internet is just for pirates. Alright everyone, off the boat - this "internet" thing has no valid uses.

Hahahah what are you, high or something? Thats like saying sports cars are only used to drive fast, and therefore ALL vehicles are ONLY used for racing purposes!

Which is what you just said about BitTorrent, hence my sarcastic reply...

A guy over at gpforums has managed to do 1.3TB yes tera bytes of data in 1 month period on Big Time plan. http://www.gpforums.co.nz/showthread.php?s=&threadid=357411&perpage=25&pagenumber=30

That would be impossible because the plan is just two weeks old. It was launched 7th July.

Oh, I see the picture there - it's not "1TB in one month" as you say. Is 1.3TB in two weeks. Pretty good IMO.

ive been using it a few days.. wow works fine
torrent works fine .. even at decent speeds (not to much different from my old plan but then again im not on adsl2)
you tube has been streaming flawlessly... im mostly online from 6pm to 10 or 11pm

Also goes to show that those simple minded ones of us here that simply browse the web, do emails, social connection things (eg. twitter), link bits of hardware via m2m connections and only managed to rumble through 1-3G/month need to be clearly protected from various types that quite literally street race around our towns (read cyper space).

A #%^^ car down the road crashed into a power poll, and I had a power outage (resetting my router).
The net result is that I've now got a 125.x.x.x address and am being shaped during peak hours.

There is legal, "legal" and questionable content on torrents but certainly not much.

Has anyone whom actually just does regular web-surfing and email actually tried to change to this plan? I'd be very keen to know how well this and in particular streaming radio stations work.

Is it me or do the numbers on that 1tb download just not add up?
The last 3 numbers I'm assuming would be downloads, uploads and total usage in MB. (Thats what my usage screen shows).
None of them even added together even get close to the 1TB shown about the usage meter.

I'm pretty sure he has done 1.3TB, even during go large days he used to post usage meter of about 700-800GB/mo

I'm a sceptic when the numbers don't add up or if I don't know them.
Not wanting to say he didn't download 1.3TB or cast dispersions, but given the numbers on the shot it's hard to see how Telecoms monitor could be so far out.
Adding the first and second of the bottom figures together you get the third. (So download + upload = total)
However the third doesn't seem to relate at all to the figure above the usage meter.
Could be a bug in their meter for the top or bottom stats?
I dunno.

One very valid use of bittorrent is game patches, and even though WoW's updater was mentioned, Relic Downloader (for Company of Heroes) is another, which works incredibly well, their update server used to be impossible to get patches from. Good way of saving them bandwidth costs too.
