Just a tip; if you have in iPhone and you're having this problem, don't try and update yr iPhone OS via iTunes on yr Mac. You'll get a failed upload, then a request to restore, then a failed restore (error code 3014) and a dead phone. I had to run a restore off my PC in the end, the sync to backup.
Woah! www.apple.com just loaded! On both Safari and FF. Have not been able to load a fraction of any apple.com webpages all day, and now it just pops up, with no lag!

It had been slow to load for me, but I'd never had a day of no action before. Unfortunately it chose today, when I decided to upgrade my iPhone, to completely disappear. I won't make that mistake again! I'm keen to get to the bottom of this, if anyone has any idea what might be going on...
I'm wondering if it's the akamai images coming down that's causing the problem - If you have the web developers toolbar installed in firefox you can disable the images.
That's a good point, actually ... TCom broadband users make a good portion of the users in NZ ... although you did state that it's only on the Mac - It could be a combination of the Mac + Telecom BB + Apple.com webpages ... making a very small portion of users?
I've not got access to a Telecom BB connection to test ... but all good on VF/iHug Broadband.
