taneb1: My wireless modem i use is secured and nobody else is using it apart from me on my laptop and iPod touch at times.

And if you plug your laptop directly to the router via ethernet cable, with WiFi off, what speeds do you get?

tonyhughes: You are on a traffic managed plan.

Your speeds are "average" for your plan, and you have nothing to complain about.

Check your wiring, replace your cables, borrow a friends modem, unplug all devices from phone jacks except modem, install a proper adsl splitter rather than those $5 filters.

Based on everything said above by you, me, and other posters, you need to understand:

You are on a traffic managed plan. This affects your speed.
You are on a capped upload speed plan. This affects your speed.
You seem to have experienced speed changes by unplugging devices (what a great idea, wish i said that earlier :/ ). This affects your speed.
You actually get "okay" speeds now (for a traffic managed plan on bad wiring)
Take the advice given here, but really it boils down to this:

You need to sort your wiring - it's clearly a source of trouble.
No point complaining about speed on Go Large. 50,000 other people beat you to it years ago, and we gave them the same story.

If you are getting faster speeds with the filters and all phones removed then your wiring is probably contributing to the problem. What speed did you get with all the filters and phones unplugged?

The majority of people's speed complaints with ADSL are the result of two things - household wiring or a poor quality modem (not factoring in dodgy ISP's with known international bandwidth issues).

If you post your ADSL sync stats and speeds here (as somebody has mentioned on the prior page) everybody would be able to get a good idea if this is definately the issue.

If it's a wiring problem changing ISP's won't fix the problem. Installing a master splitter which is recommended instead of plug in filters will probably fix the issue.

You also mention you're using WiFi. Do remember that WiFi speeds are slower than cable. Try a speedtest with the computer plugged into the ethernet port of the router. Is this faster? If so your WiFi could be dropping back to 802.11b due to interference or people nearby could be using the same channel.

If you are using wifi then you really should try connecting the lapatop directly to the modem via ethernet
