From PC World site:

In New Zealand, customers can purchase the HTC Touch Pro 2 slider phone, running on Telecom's XT network, this week, but at purchase the phone will be loaded with Windows Mobile 6.1. A downloadable upgrade to 6.5 will follow in the coming weeks.

WM6.5 upgrade on it's way so all sorted there. Still $1499.. Yikes!

i just read in UK the HTC touch pro 2 is being released with 6.5 windows mobile!.i wonder why Telecom not releasing it here?

That's the Touch 2 (no keyboard) rather than the Touch Pro, but still, its a bit disappointing.
