Finally after many hours talking to telecom, they admit there is an intermittant fault with thier network and this model phone but they dont know how long before they resolve the issue.

That's the same response I got over 2 months ago and they have still not resolved the issue. Pretty poor if you ask me, they have obviously messed something up as this used to work fine.

This happened to me about a month or so ago as well, but it was only for a few hours around the time they were upgrading to evdo here so i just assumed that it might have been to do with that. I am going to call telecom today and demand answers and if im not given a reasonable time in wich this problem will be fixed i will taking it back for a refund or i will be talking to my lawyer, i cannot live without photo/video messaging.

When i spoke to them yesterday they added my number to "the list" and gave me a case number for future reference. Not a good look for them if this problem is as widespread as it looks to be. I just wanna be able to use my phones full potential and not only a fraction of it. I look at it this way. If you can't support it, don't sell it.

I am also on "the list" ;-) with the group case number waiting to get a reply from Telecom. My 6255 is with our account manager who is either giving me a replacement or my phone with a further software upgrade back tomorrow so hopefully whichever one comes is all working! will let you know tomorrow

The situation as follows is:
A flaw in the firmware of the phone (versions V1700 and below) causes the phone to loose its data profile on the network. This does not affect newer phones which a have a new previoulsy unknown firmware version. Nokia are working on a new version to fix the problem and all other bugs logged up to now. However there is no ETA for this release

That's what they told me 2 months ago... Not really good enough if you ask me, they should refund or replace like any other retail shop. I bought this phone specifically for its photo messaging capabilities. If I wanted a phone that I can only call or txt on I would of kept my old 6585 and saved myself $700 bucks. This is false advertising if you ask me.

They cannot refund the phone unless there are extreme circumstances for example a customer having their phone sent away to be reapaired for the same problem 4 times yet still not fixed. Other than that they are really at the mercy of the repair agencies.

Although this is a very fustrating problem anyone who has been invloved with product development be it software or other will know how easy it is for these sorts of problems to happen and how difficult some can be to track down and fix. Just look at Microsoft and Windows, four years on and they still releasing fixes. Lets just hope its not like that with this particular product....
