Up until a few weeks ago I could receive pxt messages fine, now they jsut don't come through? Anyone have this problem? Or know why it's happening. I enquired at telecom but they said "it was a known issue, with no sollution yet"

Is it just me or is the 6255 a real dud! List of my problems so far:

- Vibrate motor died after I had it for 2 weeks, telecom took over a month to fix
- random power offs
- Now no pxt messages.

Where does telecom draw the line? This phone cost me $700 and has been a pain in the @ss, any attempt to get a refund or replacement has been met with their standard answer "sorry we don't do that". In my opinion that's just not good enough, this product is obviously faulty and should be refunded or replaced.

I've had a few problems with the vibrator going nuts recently, but im putting that down to me dropping the phone all the time. The powering off issue was fixed with the firmware update. Make sure you have version N100V1700.nep

When i had my first 6255, i got it refunded before the powering off issue reared its ugly head. I Could not receive PXT etc. First time it had happened Telecom were able to reset messaging and it fixed it, next time the just replaced the phone. I realised that twice i had tried signing up for the online gallery and it was that exact time in both instances that MMS messaging died.

Sounds like you have the old firmware version.
Please check as per brad05s remark. If you have the old version, go to a dealer and tell them you need the software upgrade. If they wont help you and defintely have the old software version, try another dealer in town.

Post results here either way so we can keep helping you, and others can copy your resolution if need be.

If you have a few hours to spare, read this thread about the early problems with the device. (Especially powering off).

As Disenchanted said, take the phone to a dealer, I would put all your problems down to firmware from my experiences. 99.9% sure if you got firmware updated everything would be solved as the power off problem is a syptom of old firmware

Cheers, sorry should of been more specific, when i took it in for repair the vibrate issue the powering off issue was fixed at the same time. (not sure how they did that as I checked the firmware version and its still the v1000 version)

Only have the pxt issue now the problem is I have phoned, emailed and taken the phone to the dealer and told them it has the old firmware (N100V1000.nep) and they said that it was not due to that but that there is a "known issue with the network and there was no fix for it yet"

The not receiving pxt promblem started to happen around the time they introduced the 027 to 021 pxting a few weeks back???

Not to sure what to do now really as they just won't help.

Hey
I have the same problem, until yesterday my 6255 would get pxts but from last night no more. I had software upgraded about a month ago as the keys were doing random things and since then the phone has switched off a few times by its self. I have had telecom working on it all day but they were unsure how to fix but said it was a known problem. Tried resetting phone, all the usual stuff and I can still send pxts from the phone successfully. I have changed to a 6225 handset until they can resolve. My vibrating alert stopped ages ago, not long after I got it and it has had parts replaced a few times now for other problems.

If you have previously had a photo gallery phone linked to your number, cancel your subscription to the photo gallery via the "My Account" page on Xtra. I did this, and after powering the phone off and on, photo/video messages are working fine again. Telecom must have made network changes as I have been using the phone no problems with the subscription active for months.

hmm nope that didnt fix it for me, this phone is just cr@p, last time I buy a telecom phone.

Sounds like honkey has had the same problems as me... I have still not had my software upgraded tho as telecom pretty much refused to do it, gonna take it to the actual repair place and see what they can do as the staff at telecom dealer stores are pretty useless.

You should be very careful about insulting the telecom dealer staff, there are many on Geekzone and some of us work very closely with them. When i had issues with any of my phones including the 6255 they couldnt have been more helpful, in fact before the problems with it became widely known i took mine in after a week and the replaced it no questions asked. Although the new one they gave me had issues too, i had it sent away and software updated. Not a worry since then. The phone works perfect.

You cannot make any complaints until you have had the phone upgraded, just inform the staff nicely at the shop you brought it from that they have to send it away to be upgraded. Im sure once you get it back you will love the phone

Mate the amount of problems I have had with this phone is rediculous, The first time I took it was after I had it for 2 weeks as the vibration stopped working, this took over a month to fix, they said it took so long as they were waiting for the upgraded software to come from nokia so they could do that at the same time... Got my phone back a few months ago and only just found out how to check the software version and low and behold the software has not been updated. Now I can't receive pxt message due to some changes they have made on the network... I even told them that the software has not been updated, and they said that this was not the issue and sent me away again. So I feel I have every right to complain don't you think?

Sounds like you had it easy due to the fact that you "work very closely with them" the rest of us just seem to get d1cked around.

Actually I've heard lots of good experiences here on this 6255 topic. Brad05's comments are correct: there are a few Telecom and Vodafone people lurking around, some posting, and some acting on feedback provided in the forums.

The best action is always taking back to the dealer and explaining the situation: the phone had a fault, it was not updated and you need it updated to make sure all works fine.

If this doesn't help finding a solution you might want to post here again - I am pretty sure someone will read and help. But you have to have the firmware updated first otherwise people won't move much.

Remember, Telecom dealers are not Telecom employees, so you ca't judge the corporation by people using the name. Telecom have been quite active in changing their processes and services (even adding a new repair agent to compete with MFR).

Give it a try again.

I am, but my frustration is that this will be the 4th time that I have had to return to the store. That's a lot of wasted time to be running around trying to get a piece of equipment to work properly.

It doesnt really have anything to do with me working closely with Telecom, ive always had great service from the more mobile store here in dunedin, before working with them. Really great staff. Tell whoever it is you are dealing with at the store, that telecom have released a fix for issues with the phone and since it is under warranty you are entitled to have it sent away and upgraded. Do not take no for an answer, but in saying that take it easy, grumpy custmomers can just shoot your day to hell!!

This has just happened to me again over the weekend. It would seem it is a network issue that telecom are refusing to acknowledge. i am sick of being that there is nothing wrong from the network side and it must be the phone, so why has my phone been workign fine and it only just decided to stop working and not just on my phone. getting very angry
