I have 40GBs too, hopefully it lasts until my billing cycle is over.

It should be valid for you're current billing cycle to ensure you are not worse off with any incorrect data counted towards you're cap.

Mine is due to reset tomorrow if someone wishes to bump the thread to remind me to check it out and I'll let you know what happens.

But on the 19th will it halve, back to normal plan amount.

i.e if someone is on explorer plan and within next 8 days have used over 10 gigs, will their double up end on the 19th and they'll be slowed down until their next billing period starts.

Say for above case data resets on 10th of month, use over 10 gigs by the 19th, will then get slowed down or will plan stay at 20 gig limit till end of 9th Feb?

Since the start of out last billing period (December 25) we've shown no usage at all with 81920MB available. Will be interesting to see what happens when the 19th arrives.

Dreamy: Yes I have. The person I talked to said 'probably' the data will stay until the next billing cycle, but maybe not, it could only be there until the 15th, but they had no other info. This much I knew already without calling.

Seems they have no idea either.

I gave it a try too and was told over the phone that the extened cap would run until the end of my billing period.

However, when I though it might be an idea to try and get it in writing, I emailed the help center the same question and this was the response:

Thank you for contacting Telecom.

You will revert to your plans regular data allowance tomorrow 19th January. This is to ensure we have a full month of accurate usage meter information since the issue was corrected on 19 December, so that there is no impact to your bill.

If you have any further questions regarding Telecom products and services please visit our web site at http://www.telecom.co.nz

Kind regards,

.....soooo, someone else at Telecom is suggesting the opposite.  Does this mean; if we have been using our broadband meter for the first half of the billing period based on the 20 gig cap the usage meter currently shows and, for examples sake, have used 11 gig, when the 19th comes are Telecom going to return our data allowance to 10 gig won't that mean we have blown our monthly allowance and be on reduced speeds until next month when our billing plan rolles over?  Or will it be reset to "0"? or will our billing period be reset to restart on the 19th?

It's all very well for telecom to say we will not be penialised as we now have accurate useage records, but for telecom to downgrade the usage cap mid-billing period (even if it was back down to "normal") could potentially trap users who still have time to run, and could possibly contravine the requirements of the Fair Trading Act.

Have asked for confirmation, though I suppose we will all find out tomorrow. (I will be well pissed if I get stung for the two odd weeks I've be using "extended usage".

I highly doubt that you will be in a worse off position.

You are probably right - I had been a little cautious with my usage since the rollover anyway... That said it's the 19th and I'm still reading double capacity, may hold off till the end of the 19th and double check before dipping into that "overdraft"

Well its the 20th now and I still have double my usual cap. Looks like the overdraft is there until the end of this billing period.

Mine seems to have jumped a gig overnight (!?) - maybe it's some form of catchup? I've been fairly restrained the past few days but haven't been watching every meg up or down. May run a few tests this evening.

I've just called Telecom to clarify when the double usage allowance will stop. I'm on the Business Advanced plan with a 60GB allowance and my account is still showing a 120GB allowance. I called them up to find out when that will revert back to 60GB, the guy double checked everything and said it wouldn't revert back until my next rollover, which is the 9th of Feb. I got his name and a reference number just in case.

My usage meter has been on zero since the 18th december. It only worked for about 5 days after the last time they fixed it last year..
