Modern warfare 2 (on PS3) worked well last month for a couple of days for some reason, but now has mysteriously has gone back to taking 15-20 mins to download playlists (which should take a few seconds) connecting to games is a rather hit and miss affair too, although can't say if this is related to Big time or the game itself.
downloading demos on PS3 also often takes an age, as does software updates.
On PC, steam takes 5-10 minutes to startup properly (and sometimes crashes during startup). Games work well, but downloading updates/patches etc goes *extremely* slowly.
- Steam takes far too long to connect & log in. (10-15mins and up to 30mins some times) - Steam download speeds are terrible - Gmail is generally ok, but fails to load often and takes numerous re-tries - Gmail often becomes un-responsive and need to resort to using the low bandwidth version
- Gmail Fails to load all the time - Facebook is incredibly slow - Downloads going incredibly slow, in bytes - Battlefield Bad Company 2 - Can Take 15minutes of trying to join a server, constantly disconnected - Battlefield Heroes - Cant even connect to the menu, times out (On a side note, Battlefield 2 seems fine with >80 ping to aus?)

Lately, I've been having slower than dial-up service all round.
The stupid thing is, I can ring up and ask them if they can increase the speed, which they tell me is no, then it sets off like a rocket for another month. Then back to dial-up speeds yet again...
Battlefield Bad Company 2 experiences frequent connection issues when connecting to EA in the US.
Steam is extremely slow to connect and update.
Steam content downloads are extremely slow.
Same problems with steam, only the game is supreme commander 2. Updates average 8-11k/s with the odd spike to 140k/s Logging into steam takes up to an hour. Pings are anywhere from 400-900ms. My last update took 27 hours.

- Slow Steam Content downloads (game file/updates) appear to be shaped to <10KB/s during peak, off peak after 2am they seem to be limited to 30 KB/s for no apparent reason.
Steam content downloads use a single tcp connection on a high port #, 27000ish eg: 27030. Various content mirrors are hosted in AU or US by ISP's or service providers.
Shaping on single connection tcp downloads seems to be excessive 24x7.
Yet if you use a torrent program you can get upto 100-180KB/s inside peak time by using tons of connections OR if you use a multi segemented download manager that does many connections for http downloads you can also get quite high speeds.
