johnr: I wonder how many home lines would be cut off in these areas if the mobile works better, Then all that copper with no traffic would not be good.
Jama: Tricky - to have the same coverage footprint as GSM on Voda 3G it would probably cost another $400M. That is a massive investment for any company.
mjsit&t: If Voda rolled out 850mhz WCDMA that might help, similar to Telstra. Not likely though. The 2100Ghz network will take alot more than $400 mil to give it a GSM footprint - Looking at a the best side of $bill
Really though WCDMA is proving in overseas markets to be no where near as efficent at providing broadband in it's native form (high speed internet connection) as CDMA EVDO. With Rel A coming soon with 1.8mbps upload and 3.8Mbps download that becomes a serious broadband option. HSPDA may offer a peak burst of 14mbps but again overseas experience shows this is effected by limited numbers of users.
johnr: This thread should now be locked its gone so far OTIt's indeed way off topic. I will not lock it but please go back to network coverage - to discuss other stuff please open a second thread.
