There's always Orcon Purple but it does come with restrictions.

$119.95 month will get you 100GB data, full speed down/128k up (upgradeable), no land line

$199.95 month will get you 200GB data, full speed down/128k up (upgradeable), no land line

not the best but still an option...

I'm disappointed that the big time plan has been removed.

This ISP is only for the Manuwatu region at the moment but they are currently expanding nationwide

http://www.thinair.net.nz/

They offer some great plans. But it comes at a costly price.

What do you guys think?

$165/$245 still isn't bad for 100GB/200GB respectively. Orcon has some fast and reliable speeds too. I'm on the 20GB Vodafone deal with landline for $90. I usually pay another $30 for 20 more GB.

crazed:
SmartDumbAss: Anyone tried the Worldnet unlimited plan???

It may not be around much longer, someone said(cant remember where) that it may infact be the Telecom bigtime plan rebranded.

If this is the case you have to wonder how long it will be advertised and why other companies haven't rebrand it.

My only viable options right now seem to be Slingshot or Xnet. everything else is a bit too expensive for me.

Slightshot looks slighly better with 25GB peak/unlimited off peak FS/FS for $50 and i can add another 25GB for $20 - but i heard internet with them was a bit slow and service is kinda crap. all up $70

and then with

Xnet i can get 75GB offpeak and about 24GB peak for same price at FS/128 - and i haven't heard anything too bad about them.

I want to leave my internet budget at about $70/month

I'm currently using about 150-200GB most of it on surfing/working.

is slingshot that bad?

Just spoke to Worldnet sales, was informed the unlimited plan will be pretty much goneburger in 2 months!

I went form BigTime to the Telecom business broadband.  Its slightly more expensive but their overage was better than residential, you get a fixed IP and a better heldesk.

FS/128 doesn't really give you FS download speed if you are on ADSL2+.  128kb/s upload speed effectively limits your download speed to a max of about 9Mb/s.  My router syncs at 24Mb/s (and speedtests around 16-17Mb/s), but if I was on a so-called FS/128 plan I would not be getting anywhere near that speed!

Frontliner: What about NZNET?

http://www.nznet.co.nz/services/dsl_broadband.php

Seem to be reasonably competitive, if you use VoIP phones.

Thats quite good pricing for the 100gig plan, but its $20 per gig for overages though..

Does anyone here use them and what are their speeds/congestion like during peak ?

NZNET seems really good. But can you get it at home? Or is it business only?

Prices exclude GST, but $79.95 +GST for 100GB sounds great. (Plus cost a phone line on top of that.)

We're currently on Slingshot's "Beginners thing" plan.

Only available in VF's "Red Zone" area, but it's great value. $70 per month for a phone line and 512/512kbps internet with a 5GB cap. Uncapped downloads from 1-7AM (I usually download over 1GB per night on bittorrent), and 50GB data blocks for $50.

In addition, I signed up 2 mobile phones to Slingshot's mobile offer a few months ago, and my monthly cap has increased to 9GB now.

I'm very happy with the service. Almost all the problems I've had have been on my end, and Slingshot customer service isn't as bad as people say.

Don't know how well slingshot performs on the full speed plans though.

does that $70 include landline too? because if not that seems rather expensive

Well, I think I've made my choice.

* NakedDSL (25GB, free offpeak) from Slingshot ($79.95/month includes $9.95 voip plan)
* Additional 20GB for $25

So that would be $104.95/month for 45GB of data + free offpeak and voip line (currently paying about $110/month with telecom)

All I need to do is to cut back on the data a bit, and to buy a PAP2T/etc

Unless Telecom can offer me a better deal, I'll be moving to Slingshot. Honestly, I dont know why people are even with Telecom. Slingshot offer 15GB of FS/128 and homeline for $87/month. Whereas Telcom will give you 3GB for a similar price. And telecom don't allow you to buy extra data either!
