As others have said, with Big Time gone users of 40GB + are left with little alternatives aside from some of the Business plan options.

Could we get some suggestions here on alternative providers plans and information from people who have or are on some of these plans.

Slingshot:
$49.95 BB + $47 LL = $96.95
25GB down / FS/FS / Free offpeak data (2am - 8am)

Worldnet: BB & LL = $100
Unlimited broadband (traffic managed) - Will this stay?

Xnet: have some interesting plans including a Torrent plan which gives you 75GB off peak but charges higher than usual for on peak. Can't put details into a couple of words - more complicated than the others.

These are just a few I've found, I'd love to hear from people who know more about these and other plans.

NOTE: The bitch session is done at Telecom this thread is just for alternatives please. Sealed

Slingshot plan looks good.

Its either them or snap for me.

EDIT:  but .... if Telecom releases another unlimited / large use plan for $50 or less to replace Big Time, then ill stay with telecom.

I'm looking at moving to Actrix Networks (http://actrix.co.nz/) - they seem to have comparable prices to Telecom (with tolls through Actrix too).

The main drawcard for me is their daily plans:
"Monthly limits can be used up in the first few days, leaving you with slow access for the rest of the month. We didn't think that was very fair on you, so we offer a daily allowance as well. This way, you get fast broadband every day no matter what. Simple isn't it?"

Their well-organised website with helpful information looks good too :D

'CyberJet' Plans:

Oh and they offer unlimited broadband too.... Just a little pricey for me :)

It may not be around much longer, someone said(cant remember where) that it may infact be the Telecom bigtime plan rebranded.

The Slingshot plan looks like a decent alternative to Big Time however I have heard their customer support is pretty lousy. Long wait times and limited help when you get through.

I have my own mind which is not that of my company. As such do not mistake my opinions as being those of any company you may or may not think I work for.

Thats because its true unlimited full speed unmanaged, not 'fake' unlimited like big time is.

Bugger! They were looking like a viable option.
Everyone else agree?

Yeah I'm also with slingshot and it does feel as though the speeds are getting slower and slower as the weeks go by. It's just going to get so much worse with all the big time users going off telecom and probably coming slingshot ways.
Also in regards to customer service, its alright.. Signed up online and didn't get any confirmation as to what was happening, got in contact with someone a week later and was told nothing was progressing because they couldn't transfer my old number over? thanks for telling me lol 2 weeks later and I finally had broadband. Had a nice friendly service rep that emailed me with updates on the connection which helped heaps.

What about NZNET?

http://www.nznet.co.nz/services/dsl_broadband.php

Seem to be reasonably competitive, if you use VoIP phones.
