wreck90: Reading your story sounds just like my experience. I got this modem on the free 24 month contract offer.
But, I've returned it 3 or 4 times now. It was rebooting or resetting at least once every day or two. Sometimes, it is still internet connected, but it loses the local lan connections.
Telecom's CSR's only want to keep replacing it but I'm fed up. My previous modem did not have this issue.
So, I've purchased a new 2wire telecom modem. This has been running constantly for 2 weeks straight without a single reboot. I've had the 2wire for a month or so, and not a single unplanned outage.
Now, I'm trying to return the tg585 and cancel the 24 month contract. Telecom have refused, and when I explained the consumer guarantees act to the nice man from the philippines, he didn't seem to understand. He kept telling me it didn't matter if the modem works or not, I cannot cancel the contract. But, he was quite happy to send out another modem.
When I get round to it, I'm going to call Telecom again and request to speak to someone with authority. If they still refuse, I'll activate the tg585 again, log the errors, and take them to disputes .

When you signed your contract, did you also switch to big time like we did? Because apparently the contract is automatically void for users who did.
