Mauricio, talked to our customer insight people and this was not us.

All our survey calls come from NZ numbers, and definitely not at 10pm.

Yes, so must be some idiotard company trying to sneak/scam customers. Next time I will give these guys rope and strangle them after finding out everything.

Stay tuned - if they ever call again.

keewee01: That is bad! I thought they were try to IMPROVE their public image - not obliterate it!

It's worse than HVS who keep ringing me every 6 weeks. They seem to know when I'm home for lunch!!! Have asked them not to call so next time they're going down!...

good luck with HVS, i have been trying for months to stop them calling me , they really dont know what no or not interested means, rung head office and complained still getting calls  Frown

Whenever I've had these types of calls my first response is 'who are call on behalf off'. If they can't, or won't, tell me then it's goodnight nurse. (It usually gets to that anyways)

Although like Mauricio, I suspect at that hour I would have behaved similarly

Really there is nothing stopping them saying I am calling on behalf of Telecom (and lying) when they are in fact not officially doing so at all.

LennonNZ: The NZMA (NZ Marketing Association) says these types of calls should be done between 8am -> 8:30pm. 10pm is just too late and anoying.

I presume you don't know if its was actually Telecom or some overseas telemarketing company? Valid CID?

The NZMA is complete irrelevant to Market Research agencies.  The MRSNZ (Market Research Society of New Zealand) is the membership organisation for market research companies.

ArcticSilver: If you get a call like this, make sure you tell them clearly that you are not interested and you do not want to be called again.

If they call you again they are liable for a fine, it is illegal.

No it isn't.  It's rude, but not illegal.  You'll need a lot more than one unwanted call to report them for harassment.

Besides, having worked for a company which did market research for Telecom, I can safely say that 5PM - 9PM was our hours, and we were definitely in NZ (and on request would also provide a callback number for a supervisor so that legitimacy could be checked).  And we'd have gotten fired if we pulled that "no, you want to do the survey" stuff.

Working for a research company, This is totally unacceptable. At the end of a survey we give our supervisors number if they have any questions or queries. And its rubbish that they start at 6pm...

If they are going to call at that time of night and be so arrogant - they deserve everything they get. Maybe they didn't realise what time it is in NZ 10.30pm could be 8.30pm in Oz.

Next time - just make stuff up - the more ridiculous the better. One of my favourites is to shout the question over my wife (even if she's not there), pause for a while and then say don't know. Only mess with them if they won't take no for an answer. I don't envy TM staff - it's a hard job and they are only trying to make a living - but it doesn't excuse them from being rude.

Procrastination eventually pays off.

If I get any TM calls I generally just tell them that I work for the competition and get xxx product for free.
they usually can't beat that offer and say goodbye.

I've had Slingshot try and tell me they can beat anything, no matter what - this always gets them.
