GSM Arena also lists it as 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 here: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_c6-3229.php

So it should support XT... I hope so, since I'm looking into getting a new phone and the C6 looks good.

sounds like the OP's C6 is the generic 3G 900/2100 version, which means it will only work on Telecom's 2100 frequency in the main centres. Outside of that, it won't get a signal.

The XT variant needs to be 3G 850/2100 and has a slightly different model variation . Cant remember exactly off hand. Normally referred to as the "NAM" version which is specifically for North America.

The Mobicity version is guaranteed to be the generic version.

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

Here's an ebay listing for a NAM variant:

By the looks of it, there aren't many NAM ones floating around.

Hi All

I thought I would share my experience with you, I have a Nokia C6-00 that was bought for me from Vodafone in Hamilton. So after a month I wanted to use it on the XT network, after hours of googling I have found out that the Nokia C6-00 does not work on the 850mhz only on 2100.

The reason: Nokia C6-00 that is sold at vodafone is version RM-612 and that supports 900MHZ not 850. Version RM-624 supports 850MHZ.

This info was a confirmation from Nokia NZ

That is correct all Nokia handsets currently sold in Vodafone stores only work on Vodafone.

Thanks BrentR

May I suggest that the Nokia NZ website be adjusted, maybe a little note beside

WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 (Only RM-612)

http://www.nokia.co.nz/support/product-support/nokia-c6-00/specifications

I'm Sure customers will appreciate that

Thanks

I agree Nokia can be good at confusion when it comes to device specifications on their website, and I guess the way they list some specs could also be seen as misleading. It'd be best to contact Nokia to make that suggestion, although good luck chasing up the right person!

Mobicity are listing two versions of the C6 (well they are now)!

This is listed as the "XT" version and costs about $40 more

Hi, my son purchased a Nokia C6 White and it doesn't seem to work either with XT, he tried other peoples XT Sims and still didn't work, so bought a 2 Degrees sim and it worked, but  now his mates on Telecom (Non XT) can't text him from their Telecom Txt Plan (will cost .20c for txt), does anyone have any ideas how we can make it work on XT.  He is really disappointed, I rang and advised the website he purchased it from that they should probably advise on site that they don't work with XT.

Mobicity had a Nokia C6 listed under their XT compatible phones a couple of months ago when we bought one..
The phone I got for my wife seems to be working ok - I dont know where I could go to double check that the 850 part is ok - its working fine in central auckland (which may be mainly 2100?) It roamed like a charm all through Europe last month (2100 again?).

When we got it I dropped my 2 degrees sim in and it worked immediately. We took it to a Telecom store and they said they didnt know about that model - tried a sim in it (which said not registered - and they said - nope - wont work). "Not registered" means the phone doesnt like the SIM?

Anyway - Mrs took the phone into Telecom Queen Street shop and they had it going in about a minute.

It is VERY confusing that there are so many permutations of a phone model - Fair enough - call it a C6 - but perhaps the C6-00 C6-01 etc with the suffix being definitive about what the phone supports. I do understand why they need to have different models for different markets but try and make it fairly obvious which model does what.

Dallas - Have you tried going to the 2 degrees site and using their support feature to download the network settings to the phone - sounds like its not hooking up right.

Hi Dallas, Do you kow what Model the C6 is (C6-00 RM612)?

If it is RM612 then it will work on XT only in the city centres on WCDMA 2100 which has limited coverage.

Hi, thanks for your replies, I know it's a C6-00 but not sure about RM612, will need to have a look when he gets home from work.  (Where would I find that).

But other than buying a new XT sim to see if it will work (undamaged, or working properly), will he need to stay with 2 Degrees or Vodafone?  Can't believe though that it'll take 2 Degrees and not XT.  But I guess that is the way it is.  I just wish the website had put on there that it wasn't XT compatible and it would have saved the poor kid spending his money on a phone that doesn't work with XT.

You type *#0000# into the keypad and an information screen comes up - displaying software version etc .
You will see an entry that says:

Model
   c6-00
Type
   RM-612

Or something like that.

However I have queried the Nokia site for RM-612 and got this page:
http://www.forum.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/C6-00/
If you expand everything it shows the model RM-612 but also says its:
GSM 1800
GSM 1900
GSM 850
GSM 900
WCDMA Band I (2100)
WCDMA Band II (1900)
WCDMA Band V (850)
WCDMA Band VIII (900)

So that means its ok on both Telecom WCDMA frequencies doesnt it??? Unless thats a list of ALL possible frequencies it 'might' contain - in which case the Nokia site is no help at all...

What does yours say Dallas?
