Hey guys - We had some issues with XT around Hamilton, Taupo and Rotorua. All should be ok from 19:05, if you're still having issues give *123 a call and let them know.

I have just received a bunch of txts on my work phone from early in the day. I am in Otago. Anyone else in the South had problems?

Splic3: sites are slowly comming back online after router reset in auckland

:D

Wait, router reset? Don't they know about BGP Routes or Redundancy?
If a router goes down here, we get a message saying "Ohai a router seems to have died" - and things still work normally.
*Facepalm*

Things go wrong, even the best designed networks can suffer problems. I've seen more than 1 time where a forwarding plane kept forwarding packets (keepalives included!), but the routing plane stopped processing routes. Things broke, badly.

Even with all the redundancy in the world, you can still get unpredictable results depending on the failure type.

btw: murphy.co.nz seems to be down :-)

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

OOOHHHH HYPERFIBRE!

Yeah I have seen absolute carnage in my time, it's not uncommon, but not common this much of the time should I say.
