Yes there is - XT has 2100 coverage in Nelson; same as New Plymouth though, it doesn't cover everywhere.

As a rule (from my experience): if you buy a WCDMA phone from America, it'll work on XT.
If you buy a WCDMA phone from Europe it'll work on Vodafone.

If you buy a WCDMA phone from AT&T in the U.S. it will work on XT. However if you buy it from T-Mobile in the U.S. it won't work on XT.

If you buy a WCDMA phone from Europe it'll work on Vodafone.

I imported it to NZ. And I knew that it wouldnt work on the 850 3G network when I bought it, but at the time I needed a phone which works on Vodafone 3G, but recently my parents have been having thoughts about moving to New Plymouth and so if I did move down there I'd need a phone that works on XT sadly...

You need to either have Google Earth installed, or you can paste the link into Google Maps.

Which lets you either download the KML to load into Google Earth, or show the KML in Google Maps.

When using Google Maps don't select the "All Sites" since Google limits the number of points to 1000, which is one Telco with the number of cellsites both Telecom and Vodafone run.

Don't bother going on XT if you only have 2100mhz.. Are you just worried about the txt packs or do you use a lot of data as well?

I just want to be able to txt people on XT, im not fussed if it means I have to go on a plan on vodafone or 2degrees if 2100 coverage on XT isnt even worth thinking about.

I never call anyone and im not so worried if I cant use 3G internet etc, just as long I can send at least 2000 - 3000 txts a month for under $20 :)

hmm, 2degree's txt pack is 1000 for $10 till end of this year, 500 txts usually..

Not including the free txts in the month you top up..
Vodafones txt2000 pack only includes txts to vodafone phones, so that's pretty fail right there...

Only issue is, having 2500 texts to send isn't much good if you go out of the (rather limited) 2100 coverage area and can't use your phone :(

I admit the 2100 is pretty hit and miss for XT, but i leave my XT sim in my phone and enjoy hspa across most of Auckland on 2100. Admittedly heading out of town i need to swap the sims around, but for normal day to day use i get good coverage and nice speeds!

When I tried it there were whole suburbs missing out on it, and the inbuilding was probably worse than vodafones 2100 was.
