Why do people persist in holding on to old Xtra e-mail addresses is beyond me. Change them to something free (like gmail), get them to send an e-mail to everyone on their list advising of their new address, keep Xtra going for around 3-6 months to catch anyone who missed it, close the Xtra one, start saving money...

Either that or the domain name idea is good too :)

I guess for some of us who were there 'at the start', it's a momento. And at $2.50/month, who cares? it's one cup of coffee a month.

I needed it for access to their wireless hotspot network a few years ago before that network became the monstrosity it is now. Shame they don't offer it as standalone anymore, but I know the real costs involved and $2.50/month does not cover the bill costs. Mind you if I could actually register on their website and change to electronic billing I would - but without a real service like pots, mobile or internet - you can't!

Many, many people in the UK kept their btinternet and freeserve email addresses....

and for those that care, yes I do have my original xtr number, 113428..... ah the good old days...

I've been thru about 4 ISPs in my time and none of them have closed any e-mail accounts on me or charged for them- and although I'm back on xtra now, one of them was an old xtra account
Try your luck?

The $2.50 thing is gone, as far as I know - all e-mail only accounts are $10 per month now.

FYI, yesterday telecom dialup pricing changed yesterday.

$20 per month for non-telecom customers or $10 per month for telecom landline subscribers.

both offering unlimited dial up access

If I remember correctly the $10 per month covers you for the bundled account that comes with Xtra e-mail address, so your Flickr account virus protection etc. On that basis not quite so bad!
