I doubt it would be blacklisted... Someone would have to do it - and have a police report to get it in the blacklist. And get the correct IMEI, which is not easy.

It could be something else. I don't recall, but is the iPhone always "listening" to all 3G bands (850/900/2100) or can you select?

There is no option to select you can only turn 3G on or off

When you go into Settings -->Carrier what carriers does it list after the search?
If it's just 2Deg and Voda, then you have 3G service turned off.   Also make sure you set it to Automatic.

Alternatively PM me your IMEI I'll check if its blocked.

A friend had similar issue: we cleaned out the sim contacts with a pipe cleaner, pulled the pocket lint out etc.
Make sure 3G is on,
Set carrier selection to automatic.
Then do a full hard reset hold both buttons until boot logo shows
Sit it a place with good reception
Cross fingers

Also if you have metallic style case it can reduce reception.

i think you need to take your xt sim out and rub it with a rubber to clean it then insert it back in and try again.

Please note that @bnapi and @1estar are joking about cleaning the SIM.

Remember the sander only works on telecom sim cards, as they use a different technology to Vodafone and 2Degrees.

just go to telecom store and tell them that its a faulty sim card, they will give you a new sim and you try it on your iphone. i experienced it a few times before... but i went to xt store and got new sim. :-) if that still doesnt work, it might be your iphones fault... or your setting is wrong. try doing a firmware upgrade.

You SIM is not blocked.  Try your SIM in another phone and see if it attaches to the network to rule out SIM issue (yes customers damage their SIM's).. Upgrade it to iOS 4.3 else it's a faulty device.

About the upgrade. Could ipwnsnz confirm what iOS version is currently running on your device?
