RedJalapeno: I was under the impression that high attenuation lead to higher latency and lower speeds. Pings to game servers (nz cod 4 servers, league of legends etc etc) have always been around 30-40ms higher than others I play with who are in Auckland and are cabinetised. Also the higher attenuation makes my line unsuitable for turning interleaving off which would account for some of the difference in latency.

swalker5872: To OP and other posters.
Remember that if you are not a Telecom Retail customer and a cabinet is put in you may or may not be served from it depending on your ISP and if they buy the Telecom Wholesale product or not for your area. My girlfriends folks were cabinetised but their ISP does not wholesale the Telecom product (unless they were to pay them more (Hamilton)) so their speeds actually dropped following this.
Have a look at other threads here on GZ for more info but good idea to have a chat with your ISP before you sign up to a long term contract if you have yet to be put onto a cabinet but are scheduled to be.
