plambrechtsen: There seems to be an issue with the local google cache servers which is being worked on.

In the interim if you use either the old DNS servers (alien and terminator) or the XT ones (dnsc1/2) then it works fine by pointing to the international servers.

Other Telecom DNS Servers:

dnsc1.xtra.co.nz        202.27.158.40
dnsc2.xtra.co.nz        202.27.156.72

terminator.xtra.co.nz   202.27.184.5
alien.xtra.co.nz        202.27.184.3

Hey Peter,

My old team looks after (or did) DNS and the HTTP caches, Campbell F can point you in the right direction.
I would discourage anyone from using alien or terminator if i were you, and dnsc1 & 2 werent for XT.

I would encourage people to use ns1 and ns2.xtra.co.nz as those are distributed caches.

If someone were to use the old dns servers or the dnsc servers would that bypass the cache?

Docs working fine with Telecom broadband and default dns servers here.

No, you need to have a static ip and ask telecom to place you in the bypass for the cache. But check with Telecom as it could have changed.

The reason i would not suggest using alien or terminator is that those are the authoritative servers for 'xtra' hosted domains and Telecom should disable recursion on them, it may happen you never know.
Plus if you use them the odd domain that isnt transferred correctly will still give you responses that are potentially incorrect.

Having a look into it now (sorry have been away from GZ most of the day).

Seems to work when I tried it.

And docs.google.com is returning the US Google Docs Servers.

What are you getting when you do a "nslookup docs.google.com" in the command prompt? (Start -> Run -> cmd). Then type in "nslookup docs.google.com", and see what you get back).

Have you reconfigured your local DNS Server? What DNS server are you using?
