Hi, Lissie, Ahmad reports similar issues also, but as I have stated in that thread (see below) I have no issues with google docs, to confirm I just went there and opened a few up, even edited one and put it back, no probs, and yes in Welly on Telecom.

stealing would be using it all the time - I consider a couple of minutes here and there as pilfering

Hmmm, sounds like it might be a cache issue, Paul Tinson (ptinson) used to deal with this area, I see he has now moved to Orcon, anyway are you both using Telecoms DNS servers?

ie 202.27.158.40 and 202.27.156.72

What do you get for a tracert as per below.

Tracing route to docs.google.com [122.56.115.26]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 2 29 ms 29 ms 30 ms 125-XX-XX-X.jetstream.xtra.co.nz [125.XXX.X.X]

3 * 2055 ms 2050 ms mdr-fid-int.akbr5.global-gateway.net.nz [202.37.244.222]
4 39 ms 39 ms 39 ms ae4-10.akbr5.global-gateway.net.nz [202.37.244.221]
5 44 ms 39 ms 40 ms ae1-2.akbr4.global-gateway.net.nz [202.50.232.77]
6 40 ms 39 ms 40 ms ae1-10.tkbr9.global-gateway.net.nz [202.50.232.37]
7 43 ms 40 ms 39 ms ae10-10.tkbr10.global-gateway.net.nz [202.50.232.206]
8 39 ms 96 ms 42 ms cache.googlevideo.com [122.56.115.26]

Trace complete.

I've got a similar problem too, I can't access http://docs.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=37560

My DHCP supplied dns servers to my thompson router are:

Primary DNS:    122.56.237.1
Secondary DNS:    210.55.111.1

And this is the traceroute i'm getting.

C:\Documents and Settings\Caroline>tracert docs.google.com

Tracing route to docs.google.com [210.55.180.154]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

....
  3    23 ms    52 ms    35 ms  115-188-216-1.jetstream.xtra.co.nz [115.188.216.1]
  4    35 ms    38 ms    35 ms  mdr-fid-dom.akcr10.global-gateway.net.nz [202.50.238.50]
  5    35 ms    35 ms    34 ms  ae4-20.akcr10.global-gateway.net.nz [202.50.238.49]
  6    36 ms    36 ms    36 ms  v4.aksw7.global-gateway.net.nz [210.55.202.51]
  7    35 ms    34 ms    34 ms  ae0-30.akbr4.global-gateway.net.nz [210.55.202.102]
  8    35 ms    34 ms    35 ms  ae5-2.akbr5.global-gateway.net.nz [202.50.232.78]

So I am thinking that there is something wrong, i'm also in wgtn... doing some investigation internally.

Several people, including me, have the same problem.

Had to tether iPhone, use the Vodafone mobile broadband connection, and it worked. So has to be a Telecom problem.

Please be sure to log a call via 123, or send an e-mail via http://telecom.custhelp.com/app/ask and select the "fault reporting" tab.

Just so the powers that be have a list of affected customers.  As it's not an area I support I am trying the best I can to find the correct support team.

There seems to be an issue with the local google cache servers which is being worked on.

In the interim if you use either the old DNS servers (alien and terminator) or the XT ones (dnsc1/2) then it works fine by pointing to the international servers.

Other Telecom DNS Servers:

dnsc1.xtra.co.nz        202.27.158.40
dnsc2.xtra.co.nz        202.27.156.72

terminator.xtra.co.nz   202.27.184.5
alien.xtra.co.nz        202.27.184.3

If you (like me) have a Thompson router you can telnet into the box (192.168.1.254 by default) as per these instructions and set the DNS server via the command line:

Login with the username/password "Admin/Admin" (with the upper A).  And type the following commands:

dns server route list
    - This will show the NS1/NS2 DNS servers.

dns server route flush
     - This will remove all the DNS entries.

dns server route add dns=202.27.158.40 metric=0 intf=Internet
dns server route add dns=202.27.156.72 metric=0 intf=Internet
     - This adds dnsc1 & 2 as primary Name servers.

exit
    - To logout

This should fix you in the interim until the next reboot of the router and hopefully the Google servers get fixed soon.

I also cannot access Google docs from Parklands / Christchurch; but it may be part of a different problem, since my Telecom broadband has been generally very slow with overseas sites for 3-4 days.
