turnin: Temp fix is now to use pop mail but that required me to pay 2.50 / month for the service. xtra assure me they are working on the problem and will find a solution, this is a common problem affecting a number of users

Good old Telecom EH? "We have a problem with our service, that will be an Xtra $2.50 please" Sheesh, what next?
Oh, and sorry about the house ;-)

If you are a customer of Xtra the ISP there is no charge for an email account and no extra charge for a using a POP client instead of a browser....

You do pay $2.50 p/month if you use Xtra Secure Remote.

Which is a bit steep when you have no other way of accessing an Xtra account except for Webmail if you're not using an Xtra dialup/ADSL connection. Xtra don't provide "free" webmail and you still have to pay them money every month even if they're not your main ISP.

Telecom should be offering this free to customers at least while the webmail service is unavailable. Charging for it normally is fair enough but when customers have no other way of accessing their emails it's a bit rude.
