for some weeks Telecom has remoddeled it's xtramail site to allow users more mailbox space and a different interface.
I wonder how many people it has affected, I am a travelling sales rep and depended on this site to save store and return emails and documents. Whats the problem ? Seems that fora small number of users it doeent work, it kicks you out after 30 secs and wont let you back in, in short it's impossible to use. I have spent nearly 3 hours talking to the xtra helpdesk about the issue, depending on who you talk to the problem either dosent exist, doers exist but we cant find a solution, does exist and were not going to fix it, 0r of course, have you tried rebooting your computer.
I have used different browsers, security programs, cookies etc, nothing works.
But here is my question -
1) Why did they not test it (properly) before implementing it
2) Why is their call ctr in denial mode when the problem is 3 weeks old
3) why arn't they teling their users about it on the front end of the IVR ?

You say in the subject line xtramail.co.nz

That address should divert you to the new one: http://webmail.xtra.co.nz

Not sure it it will help?? You also might want to check your 'cookie' settings, I had this problem with hotmail years ago (well it wouldn't load the page).

Cheers

Thanks, NZBMW.
I have deleted all my cookies and even reinstalled IE to no avail.
I rang Telecom this afternoon again who say they can't tell me when a solution is likely but they understand my frustration which makes two of us, and yes it's the webmail address, I do wish they could run the old system again till the bugs are ironed out

divert your xtramail to a gmail account, and use that.

Problem solved until Xtra fix their end.

You can set Gmail to send mail as you@xtra.co.nz

Try doing this; Tools / Internet Options / Privacy

Adjust your privicy setting to 'medium' if it's above this level?? (some customers laptops refuse to connect to Wifi HotSpots if theyhave settings like this).

Cheers

btw, it's 'nzbnw', and yes it is ment to be like that =)

And check the tyre pressures on your car, things could get worse. ;-)

You might want to look at the position of the moon and the quality of the air in your region as well.

RE:  Xtramail

Try upgrading the java applet on your browser.  The new xtramail server runs on java applets and forced logouts could be due to a fact the end user's java applets are incompatible.  A work around this is to use an email client such as outlook or outlook express.  This will allow you to log in and compose email without having a forced logout.

do you get a 'Forced Log Out' error message at the top of the screen?
If so click the Webmail link above the login page and try logging in again.
Have you saved www.xtramail in your favourites? if so update the saved page with http://webmail.xtra.co.nz

It worked for me, and I have had no further issues since.

Cheers for the advice guys, the smoke alarm was flat and the tyre pressures were too high, probably air density was up cos house was on fire and the air quality is realy bad now, so bad I can't see the moon even. :)

forced log out - yes. Get the same results on IE and Mozilla. Java updated recently, I visit webmail.xtra.co.nz not xtramail. Temp fix is now to use pop mail but that required me to pay 2.50 / month for the service. xtra assure me they are working on the problem and will find a solution, this is a common problem affecting a number of users
