Azzura:cyril7: Hi a Conklin is a small mini DSLAM that as normally deployed by Chorus has one or two E1's as an uplink. Therefore even though its 3km away so your syncing at 7Mb/s the E1's (2Mb/s each) are limiting the uplink.

Is it a waste of time for them to upgrade to a box that has faster slots?
As part of RBI a lot of them are going to get replaced with a whole new cabinet. The issue for Chorus is that they need to trench the Fibre to the Cabinet and that takes time and money.
I don't know if your broadband is running off that same location as I couldn't find out where the copper from your house runs. I have a bad feeling it may run via Mahtha so you would be too far up the road from where the fibre is due to be trenched.. But I could be wrong here and all the copper runs down the road to the junction on Notorious West Road.
Currently the Conklin's are running on E1's which is just two copper pair that run a 2MB circuit rather than fibre (well x 3 since I was told that Conklin run 3 stacked E1's). Trenching in fibre is the best long term solution rather than trying to put in a box which you can stack more E1's.
