Does anyone know who actually manufactures Telecom's handsets?

The R6, R7 and R90 are all Telecom branded, as opposed to Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia etc handsets that are manufacturer branded.

Cheers Jughead.

I looked at the manual for the R6 (from Telecom's website) and read ZTE Corporation. Wonder if those particular phones are any good.

None of them have come back yet ;)

Telstra sell them in australia and I'm told the R7 is popular with the older set, I guess we will find out in a few weeks!

TheBartender: Anyway...I notice Telecom's new XT network too does include?'double data'...but at an extra cost of $15...thas $5, or 50% more expensive than Vodafone.

It isn't double data, it is an additional 1GB

How do the text plans work with prepaid?
If i want $12 text on the new network, am I charged for the first 60 texts and get the next 520 free?
Or am I charged at the start of month?
Thank you.

They are add ons, so it's $12 each month.

I've been told that it is per calendar month, and you are charged for the first 60, and the rest are free. Altho when I was at Telecom's store today to sort out my still inactive SIM, he asked me what text plan I wanted, and I said $12 - 600 txts, he typed something into the pc for some reason...

It runs the same as $10TXT cept you get charged for the first 60, not 50, of course, then 'free' for the rest. You can change your preference for 150/600/1500 texts once per month, just gotta make a call and they'll switch you over.

True...that's worse!

So with Vodafone, for $69.95, (on account/24 months) I can get 3GB, and then another 3GB for an extra $10, total cost $79.95 = 6GB

But with Telecom XT, for $84.95, (on account or prepay) I get 3GB, but then only another 1GB for an extra $15, total cost $99.95 = 4GB

That is a hell of a difference!

Here's my story. Bought phone 2pm Friday. Told I had to by sim card to change from CDMA go one bill to prepay XT. Explained Tcom makes more $ outta me being charged to homephone rather than running outta money on pre purchase but 'thats how it is'. So paid extra on top of phone for sim card and waited for it to switch over. Still no good after 20 hours so went back to store to have it sorted. 2 hrs later it switches over from old phone to new phone but no $10 credit on phone as instructed. Rang Tcom and told I shouldn't have been charged for Sim and should go back for refund. Frustration as I lost my $10 text from CDMA and now have to go back to shop 3rd time!

Yes

Get it on prepay, buying a $60 and a $20 topup gives you $105 credit so you get the 4GB for $80 and have $5 credit left so $75 which is $5 cheaper than VFs 6GB
