BigHammer: On Wednesday I received a text message advising that the modem would be delivered the following day. The courier driver must not get the same notification because the modem arrived just after 1pm on Wednesday. So disappointed it arrived earlier than expected ;-)

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD. https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
BigHammer: Of course! A free Galaxy S4 should do for starters. And a year's free unlimited calls, texts and mobile data for it. And I want my house washed monthly and the yard cleared. Okay with you? ;-)
lchiu7: I asked earlier but didn't get a response. It is easy to set the DNS addresses in the Thompson modem without having to resort to CLI?
And how hard is it to use in bridge mode (if that is the term) so it's only used as a modem and you use a different router/WAP?
Thanks

It has a bridging built into the GUI, unsure on the DNS front
timbosan:
My modem arrived this morning, and I have been using it for a couple of hours now. I have setup my DHCP range and set the IP address of the modem to the correct range, however I cannot see any way to change to DNS via the web interface. Guess your stuck with SSH.
(FYI - It doesn't bother me as I set my unblock-us DNS addresses on my Untangle server, then point all clients to that. Works great!)

That's what I do with my current setup. It means I can have my smart TV set to NZ, to get tvnz ondemand, and ps3 set to unblock us, to get all the other stuff.

morrisk: JonoNZ in his post on July 8 in this thread made this comment on bridging:
"The TG589vn is ADSL and VDSL but it can't run ADSL in bridged mode, so you will need to bridge it once your VDSL is up.

Just set up bridging in that case, I'd recommend using Selective DNS (I don't think Untangle does this) but if you're running a router box in the way then use Bind9 and use the Telecom DNS for everything except the domains you need UnblockUS for so you've got full YouTube speed etc.
