Is anyone here able to contact the Web team?

"Check to see if Ultra VDSL broadband is availale at your address."

Edit: Also, the More About VDSL page doesn't work (linked from the address checker).

Pricing is cheaper than Snap and would include a POTS line.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Weird, Chorus' maps show VDSL available in my area, but Telecom say it isn't available at my address.

I would quite like it.

Edit - to be fair, they do not specifically say VDSL (they used to) but it does say Broadband > 20mbps.

I wonder if it has to do with UFB coming within the next 2 years? Or should I call them>

Launched this morning, and it's pretty awesome.

We're still working on some of the website aspects but should have this finetuned today. You can order by calling 0800800123, press 3, ask for New Connection then Broadband and let our friendly New and Move team sort you out.

Thanks Michael, have replied to your PM.

Can you tell me what gear Telecom are using (CPE)? And it looks like a master splitter is mandatory - good!

It's a Thompson TG589vn, they're pretty good routers.

This is exciting...

what work is required to change the telephone port to an VDSL one?

I've been using one for 7-8 months now, pretty stable and better WiFi coverage than the standard Telecom modems

Sign up and chorus will sort it all out - install master filter, etc.  In an apartment it might be a bit more challenging though.

I will have to seek permission from the agent first!

Is it a case of taking the old plate off and using the wiring to install a new plate?

Funny enough I will be ringing Telecom today to order this, and I live in an apartment (Newmarket, Auckland).  I have OK ADSL speeds (12down) but I know part of the problem is due to high attenuation because of the cabling going into an alarm first, and the 5 jackpoints in the apartment.  coffeebaron fixed the cabling in my last place so I picked up a lot about what to do, and luckily the apartments are cabled with CAT5, so a Master Splitter before the alarm should yield nice VDSL speeds.

I notice its only $99 for the install, which seems like great value.

Anybody else in an apartment getting this? Or already has it (i.e. trial users)?

It's great to see this FINALLY released as I was working on this when I was working at Telecom last year.  Better late than never!
