Well, it's not an HTC One, but I'm using a Galaxy S4 with a custom (well standardish) i9505G ROM and sure enough, there's a bug that prevents LTE being picked up on the particular ROM I'm using. I had to download an App from the Play Store to force LTE on. (And then it worked great)

Cheers - N

Can you advise what app you are using to do this? I have the same setup but no 4G.

Cheers, Tim

Search google play for "LTE Setting" by Ryo Ueshima. I am not linking to it because apparently it can cause some level of brickage if you choose the wrong settings.

So, this post is NOT made as an employee of Telecom - it is made as an individual. If I was posting about this as a Telecom person, I would specifically be recommending against using an app like this.

I honestly can't remember what settings I chose... This is AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The best way to get LTE is to flash back a carrier image.

Cheers - N

I followed this http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-google-edition/745487-fixed-in-4-3-ota-gt-i9505g-lte-bug-cause-workaround.html and now it works perfectly. It didn't beforehand despite this post saying that an OTA fix has been released for 4.3

Cheers, Tim

Dingbatt: Can anybody recommend an android speed test app that doesn't chew through 50-100 Mb per test? I don't want to kill my whole months allowance on tests :-/

have you considered that maybe the speeds 4G is operating at are so far beyond what you need, that it is largely pointless to run the speedtest anyway?

I mean, just what are you planning to do with 4G that sits within the bounds of a 1GB cap anyway?

:s/activated/built/g

Got to build/upgrade the network before you can activate it. Telecom have said they are taking a break from upgrades to allow for planning which takes into account usage of future 700mhz spectrum, as their public reason anyway.

freitasm: Try using the official Ookla Speedtest app instead and selecting the Telecom AKL server.

Fastest speed I've had was with the Vodafone AKL server.  Maybe too many Telecom users running Speedtest this week???

Exactly!

This is Geekzone after all. Even in general use 4G is noticeably faster. I was interested to see if the places I work and play have notably different speeds.

Lower latency causes a non trivial improvement in user experience.

You joke, but I had to do this for a week while awaiting UFB install. DC HSPA gave me a pretty mint connection on COD :)

Trust me, general web browsing etc over 4G is very noticeably snappier than on 3G
