tdgeek: -----------Do you honestly believe the work around is the cause? Not being a smartass :p Serious question.
Workaround would have been an easy fix. ------------
Absolutely. If it was an easy fix, it would have been fixed.
We have tried unlimited twice now, so its clearly not an issue of lack of desire on our part. When Go Large was released, many hard core leechers checked and double checked with us so they can ensure they play by the rules, that was good to see. On this occasion it is a great pity that the efforts of a minority have affected the companys ability to continue this plan, and for the target market of above 20Gb users who wanted the lack of need to worry about excess charges and speed throttling, to use this plan.
There are disgruntled users on here that is understandable, but I can assure you that the various conspiracy theories are just speculation and assumptions. Yes there are Telecom employees on here I am one. I dont feel that we defend the company or the plan, we just try to state things as they are. We are on here to help if we can, enlighten if we can, but while things can go wrong, believe it or not, we are trying to offer options to the customers, and trying unlimited twice has been one example.
Cheers
tdgeek: --------The 1st time Telecom was prosecuted. The 2nd time and this isn't an assumption, no one would listen to the customers calling until a few reps got together and said enough was enough.
Seeing as your an employee that's allowed to talk on the forums I imagine you're some sort of marketing manager (apologies if I'm wrong) so please, please listen to this:
Telecom have some absolutely amazing ideas just do the damn testing and "Get it right first time!" -------------
Hi SDA
1. I may be wrong, but I think we actually advised that the shaping was shaping more then it was supposed to, and contravened the terms we had in place.
2. "no one would listen to the customers calling until a few reps got together and said enough was enough." Im sorry I dont follow that, can u clarify? Yes, customers called in, and as many here know, we attended to the fine tuning of the shaping to improve performance, which we did. The plan was heavily tested, but you can never test for every future creation of technology, such as how to bypass it as these are ever changing, the same reason that spam is still here, viruses are still here. My personal opinion is that the plan was generous.
3. Thanks for the compliment, we do have great ideas. But we cannot test for everything in the future. Clearly, the bypassing is an issue, and if that could have been easily fixed, as many assume, it would have been. We have no issue with an unlimited plan, that has to be seen as obvious, as we tried it again. But it is not easily fixed, unfortunately.
If our forthcoming letter does not provide a viable solution for a user, there are no barriers from Telecom to using another providers high Gb plan
