ive just changed to the open plan $39 plus $25 dollars for 1.5G of data, so i'll have a total of 2.5G

so for around $10 more i get more minutes and way more data, so im happy with that

hopefully once the new 4G network is ready there is no increased cost

will go nicely with my upcoming sony xperia z1

One of my other phone is on Telecom Smart1 ($39) with 12 months remaining.

Is it possible to switch to the new $39 Open plan without early termination?

Cheers

I'm on the old $39 open plan.

Do I need to call up to switch to the new Ultra $39 open plan, or will I be moved across automatically?

Telecom now has their ultra pans - tempted to go for the Ultra $39 open term which gives me an extra 50 minutes of talk time and another 250MB of data. All I can say is if Telecom were to keep the same pricing and make 4G free for all customers then I think the competition will have a lot of explaining to do.

Behodar: Since these are "ultra" plans, I'm guessing that they'll launch alongside LTE (and provide LTE service). I wonder whether the old plans will continue to be available for users outside an LTE coverage area.

That's assuming LTE is coming soon, which isn't what I've been hearing. I believe Telecom may still be several months away from a launch.

Unfortunately my contact inside Telecom  involved in the LTE deployment died last  week so I have no updates   now..

Have to say I am somewhat disappointed by the new offering. It ends up being slightly more expensive with less data. I am currently on the $29 plan with $20 1GB add-on.

So if I keep my current plan, does it continue on or will I be forced to change eventually?

Interestingly enough the person from Telecom said the new iphone 5c and 5s will be available in the next month or so....

The person from Telecom was guessing. I doubt anybody at Telecom knows the launch date. If it had gotten down to CSR level then it would be public knowledge by now. And it's not.

Telecom's Twitter says that the new plans are "4G-ready" which implies that that's the case.

Haha '4G-Ready' plans! Priceless bit of marketing rubbish right there!
