Update

No more 12 month contracts, all open plan or 24 months (well 12 months have now been removed)

I still think its absurd that Telecom charges more from someone who is signing in for 24months. Looking at that, 39 open is same as 49 /24 mth.

So over 24 months you pay $240 more, and the subsidy is only $200.

So in effect Telecom will pay you $40 NOT to sign in for a term. What the heck kind of model is that?

Since these are "ultra" plans, I'm guessing that they'll launch alongside LTE (and provide LTE service). I wonder whether the old plans will continue to be available for users outside an LTE coverage area.

On the other hand, the higher grade plans are considerably better value on contract, assuming you stay for 24 months,
89 vs 99 for example. You only pay 240 more for the 24 months on the contract, but get 800 bucks of subsidy

These plans are live now, looks like replacements for smart plans

Telecom is still updating their site

Well my current is

$39 smart (i don't use that many minutes talk)
$10 text
$20 1gig data (total of 1.75gig)

Total of $69

Now if i wanted to change i would have to go

$49 plan (still in contract on currently plan)
$15 data (500 megs) total of 1.5gigs

Total of $65 but drop 250megs (for $4 less)

Or
$49 plan (still in contract on currently plan)
$29 data (1.5gigs) total of (2.5 gigs)

Total of $78 up 750megs (for 9 dollars more)

Not to bad, but looks like there is a bit of space between 500megs and 1.5gig data add on's

I'm on $39 open smart plan + $20/1gb pack, so providing i can keep the 1gb pack its more for the same

Maybe someone from Telecom could clarify the status of the 1gb data pack moving forward?

True you get better value on the higher plans, so why even have the difference in the lower plan? Regardless I think having cheaper plans for open term is crazy and adds a level of confusion, which they worked for a long time to get away from.

Just for the record I'm a happy Telecom customer, previous staff member and reasonably staunch supporter, I just think he last couple of plan refreshes have been way off the mark.

That's assuming LTE is coming soon, which isn't what I've been hearing. I believe Telecom may still be several months away from a launch.

Kinda disappointed that they no longer offer a $39 plan on contract for subsidy.

I'm a lite user so all the bandwidth aren't really important to me. Looks like I'll be buying my next phone outright and stay on the $19 prepaid or I'll be moving to back Vodafone.

Done.... have just switched my old open $39 smart plan to the new ultra #39 plan and retained my 1gb data pack

Interestingly enough the person from Telecom said the new iphone 5c and 5s will be available in the next month or so....

If i understand correctly, the addons are now the same for prepaid and postpaid so 1gb may not be available?
If it isn't, then the person on the Telecom help desk just told me that nothing else had changed aside from the increase in quota, and they need to be informing customers of such a change.
