rugrat: End story, telecom not providing bussiness in way customer interested in, other providers will, so customer goes else where.
In meantime telecom spending 20 million approx, for name change to improve their bussiness in future.
mattwnz: That is pretty insecure, especially if you are giving them the CSC number over an unsecured medium,. I didn't think they could ask for the CSC numbers over the phone, as isn't that sort of transaction considered 'card not present' , so shouldn't be needed either.

There was I recall, but at that stage there wasn't any mention of the fee for paper statements. I recall back then, that if you choose to use Mytelecom, they would stop sending you your paper bills, so if you wanted to continue to receive paper bills, you had to cancel Mytelecom. This new $1.50 fee was only announced today in the papers. I didn't reliaise they charged a percentage for CC payments too. At least they don't do that for prepay.
richms: Are telecom still crippled in what they can charge by that stupid kiwishare thing or has that fully gone away now with separation?
I would think they would be as crippled by it as any other provider these days, as telecom is now no different to any other telco since they were seperated from chorus. Although I do believe they do still have a holding in the southern cross cable, which other ISPs don't have, which looks to be a good little earner for them.

CSC is supposed to be used in card not present transactions.
In anycase I am not 100% it was telecom that wanted it, but one of the telcos did when paying over the phone to a foreign call centre.
Inexcusable not to have an online payment gateway for a company of that size IMO.
mattwnz:
Anyway that is interesting about CSC numbers because I thought it could only be typed into on secure website by the card holder, and it should never be manually disclosed to anyone or recorded, and I would pressume that would include over the phone. This is why with mailorder forms where you fill in your credit card details, and mail back to a company, you never enter in your CSC number, and the credit card can be processed manually as 'card not present' without the CSC.
rugrat:tdgeek: If you register for My Telecom, you get online bills, avoid the new fee, and have everything on your bill easily accessible online. This includes links to change services/plans, etc, and access to the last 18 months of bills. The online bill is identical to the paper bill. And you get an email to alert the bill has been processed.
The cost of a paper bill is significant to any company, and the desire to be green. This cost has been absorbed for a great deal of time. In today's connected world, I feel this is fair, it's the way of the future. This is my opinion, I do work for Telecom.
Yes, but then I have no bill to take to New Zealand Post to pay. If I pay eletronically I like it to be by credit card, as then I only have one payment each month for every service and goods brought in that month. Easier to manage, then money coming out all over the place, but telecom charge for that.

You can't even buy a coffee for $1.50.
Email people. Email.

Yeah. This reminds me of the discussion last year on the size of the emailed PDF bill file. It went on and on..
