Flickky: Turns out it does warn you when you start loading content that isn't unmetered

edit: image too big + on my phone, can't resize :(

Are you sure that warning is due to you having Socialiser? I've signed up but not had any notification that it's been activated yet, but have also had that pop-up. I'm thinking that's something that was added by Facebook in their latest app update, I don't see how a billing change at Spark's end could 'interact' with the app in terms of generating pop-ups that way.

Just got this with a message saying Socialiser is to share... Shame I can't share with everyone here:

BigHammer: Official apps only. Windows Phone not supported. Kinda limits things a bit. StIll, can't please all of the people all of the time.

Why is this? Is it because the "official" WP app for facebook is developed by MS rather than FB?

I asked Spark, and yes, this was one of the reasons given
https://twitter.com/SparkNZ/status/524323160045285377

That twitter thread is now showing some promise. Somebody with access to the WP apps developers has asked for a Spark contact. MS' s web page for the Facebook app shows it as Published by Facebook so there must be an agreement. Maybe all it needs is a way for Spark to isolate that app from the other MS ones.

switched over to spark over 7 years with VF.

mainly because of spotify and the free 1gb hotspots

socialiser looks good on paper but the official twitter app on android sucks! :/, wished it allowed supports for 3rd party twitter apps.

nonetheless, gj spark.

I just got a text from Spark a week after signing up saying "Thanks but you aren't on an eligible plan".

The T&C's say the following "Eligible plans for Socialiser on Pay monthly are $19 Smart OneBill, Ultra Mobile, Ultra+ plans and Smartphone plans" and I'm on an Ultra Mobile $49 plan.

Anyone else had any issues like this? Or have I missed some obvious exception before I go calling them and waiting on hold for an hour.

sbiddle: I can't believe Spark fell for this, they'll now have to deal with the same problem that every other provider who thinks this is a great idea does - which is content that customers believe is zero rated that isn't as it's embedded rather than originating on either FB or Twitter. Good luck to them, they'll need it.

We also know the problems they have distingishing tivo data from normal traffic, on their fixed line broadband.

I just got a text saying mine is turned on.
I am on ultra $69 (24 month contract) but it did take them a week or so to put it on.

My friend had the same issue with the same plan even, but the issue for him was that the account type was setup as some type of Business Account.

On the sign up form for Socialiser under 'Things you should know' it mentions: "Socialiser is only available to consumer customers."

Might be why for you too, perhaps? But if you know your account is non-business or should be non-business, might be worth calling (or waiting to see if one of the helpful Spark guys show up to take your details and look).

Take care,

-Naithin,.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but it's really a pain at the moment.
I'm using LG G2, running kitkat.

Using the official FB app, every time I click on an external link, it pops up and warn me standard charges my apply, which is good.

But the thing is,

1. there is no "don't warn me again" button, so pretty much the message pop up EVERY TIME i click on an external link!
2. I'm not registered for the spark socialiser!!! :/   so why do you even warn me :(

Does any of you have similar problem? it's really annoying.

the iphone app has a 'don't warn me again' option, must just be a problem with the android app.

Sometimes the app warns. Sometimes I get a Web page telling me about data. The page has a tick box but it never stops warning.

Apologies with the experience of the reoccurance of the warnings even when choosing "Dont warn again".
Will find out what's happening and advise.

And if you can, please find out about the android version please, i don't see any "don't warn again" message at all.

And I'm not even on the Spark Sociliser so not sure why it should warn me in the first place?

Thanks.
