vexxxboy: the use of good to gooder annoys me more than the content.

Same here. The use of "gooder" is the single most annoying thing about the ads by far. (The second being that the voiceover person sounds like one of the ads I used to hear while listening to Spotify.)

I thought the ads were pretty funny.

Also if you're physically revolted by two guys kissing.. you should probably stop using a computer, given one of the fathers' of computing (Alan Turing) was gay. Wouldn't want you to use subversive gay technology and all.

Much prefer the Skinny ads, they get the point across without the cringe. What is it with 90% of ISP's and these weird ads? All use the same agency?

different target markets, different mediums (youtube vs TV ad) therefore different ads required I guess.

Skinny is one of only three mobile companies, and everything they do and talk about is all about how cheap everything is.

Bigpipe (and other smaller ISPs) are one out of dozens and dozens ISPs, and they need to differentiate and stand out in different ways.

In my opinion, the only thing wrong with these ads is that BigPipe won't provide service to the Tauranga region! Why won't you take my money?

We have ADSL and VDSL in Tauranga. Are you looking for UFB?

I am. I currently have VDSL connected at my property but UFF recently finished laying fibre in my street and am looking to move to fibre soon so I've been evaluating the different options out there. laughing

Demeter: Maybe I'm just too old, but these don't make me want to have anything to do with whatever they advertise. The Giganaire ad was clever at least. These atrocities are low-budget and just awful. Sorry.

Sadly some of us don't have the money to spend big bucks on expensive ad-production.

If I was going to be snarky I'd say that we prefer to spend that $$$ on providing great customer service instead, but the thread about that already exists.

But hey, everyone has their own priorities amirite?

You asked for feedback and when you got some you didn't like, you attacked them? Good work!

Hey, calm down. I didn't seeany attack in there. More like a stab at the competition with the reference to the customer service thread running parallel to this.

You didn't see any attack in there? It was snide and unnecessary (I'd would have hoped for better from the BP guys). If you don't want negative feedback, then state you only want positive feedback.

For the record, I am perfectly calm.

I am however tired of all the inter ISP/Telco sniping, it's doing the general tone at GZ no favours.

I didn't actually ask for feedback at all, just said "I hope you guys like them".

Anyway, it's a Bigpipe thread on the Bigpipe sub-forum and it's generally considered poor form for employees of ISPs to post insulting  comments ("These atrocities are low-budget and just awful") in other ISPs sub-forums.

You don't see non-VF ISP employees posting insulting comments in threads like this: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=40&TopicId=150461  where VF shows of their latest "epic" big budget ad.

"We hope you like them", posted in a public forum, IS an invitation for feedback, good and bad. I don't think Demeters comments were based on her professional occupation, but her personal opinion of it, you took it to another level.

I didn't like them either personally, and felt much the same way, can I now expect an insult about how my business runs?

If you feel you were in the right, well that's fine. I personally expected better from you. Even if you are right and she was having a dig, you missed an opportunity to be the "bigger man".

This is offtopic (Obviously), I'm ok if you want to continue it off thread, but I don't have much else to say about it.

BigPipeNZ: Thought you guys might like a sneak peak of our new ads.

In the first advert
THE MAN TALKS HOW I THINK!!!

Im dyslexic and the concept of something going from good to gooder, makes perfect harmonising sense to me.

We may be competition but I have to say the adverts are well done - assuming you had a small budget.
I dont think they will be allowed for general broadcast but as you say - online and ondemand are your target audience so they are better suited off-air for a higher hit ratio.

As a gay guy, the homo kiss i thought wasnt funny, but it fit the context or attempted humour.
I felt the "marriage so long as it does suit" as a funnier concept to concentrate on.
