Tonight:

File Speedtest, download the Linode Speedtest Fremont file - IPv4 (via BigPipe): 497KiB/s (average)
IPv6 (via SIXXS Tunnel, Wellington): 9.4MiB/s (average)
Baseline (via a server hosted in the US): 82MiB/s (speedtest host has more than enough bandwidth to conduct test).
Via a WXC ADSL2+ connection: 1.8MiB/s (average)

Pretty lame when an ADSL2+ connection beats my 200/200Mbit UFB connection.

Yea my speeds are down again tonight too

Though for some reason I'm being routed through Australia. No clue as to why?

I've just started a couple of automated Traceroutes - they can be viewed on https://murfy.nz/bigpipe-performance/ - traceroutes are updated every 30mins and the below image (along with the other Smokeping images) are generated every 5mins. This is to a known trouble endpoint speedtest.fremont.linode.com so hopefully will help with investigation.

Click this image to view an up-to-date traceroute.

Edit: I've added a speedtest to the above traceroute as well as a timestamped log from some speedtests done on the 45th minute of every hour: https://smokeping.murfy.nz/speedtest.txt

This is *awesome* stuff. I'm troubleshooting my line with the awesome Bigpipe support team as I've been having some pretty strange experiences. This will come in handy! Thanks as always.

I've also forwarded these to @BigPipeNZ via their support email. My mate on Spark is currently owning my international speeds and he is on VDSL in Hokitika :(

Yea the only issue I have had with Bigpipe over the last year of being on Fibre with them is the international speeds. Would be interesting if anything comes of this

I can't complain too much. I essentially get free internet due to people signing up with my referral code so out of spite they're likely throttling me for teh lulz.

Edit: @rudster are you on a CGNAT connection? Might explain it...

@michaelmurfy I wouldn't know actually.

I know this connection is the only connection using fibre directly to the local exchange. There are currently 3 other fibre installs being processed but the day fibre went life, We were the only ones who jumped on it for a year. Static IP, The full works

Did some more tests to see if the server I'm using is the limitation, So here is Phyber Communications

And Race Communications

All others are under 20mb/s

Really weird. Something else I noticed is with Google. It has periods where it goes via NZ and other times where it goes via Australia. Nothing on the Smokeping server has changed + all DNS is done via BigPipes DNS servers.

Smokeping graphs to Google (updates every 5 minutes):

My Republic 200/200 at 11.30pm this evening. (Actually their speed used to be rubbish, but reasonable at the moment)
