I was too quick on the trigger to "just move this over! I want 6gb data" and now just lost out of the $46 credit on my Skinny account. Really hoping i can get this back. Please @livingskinny I've sent you a support email otherwise that really sucks :(

if both companies are same, surely credit would be transferred over.

The site mentions in the FAQ you lose credit and roll over allowances, I guess it uses a separate billing system to regular ol skinny? Kinda stink but from experience they were super flexible and helpful in the past so if you're nice enough they may be able to do something.

In my case I topped up, got a combo but went back to voda after 2 Days. The top up was $50 I think so I wasn't keen to let it run out. The team were super helpful,I purchased a new sim and they cancelled the ad on and transferred the credit to the new sim so I could use it for data in my iPad.

If I didn't use Sparks Interest Free deal to upgrade my phone each year.. This would suit me perfect!

Undercuts my current Plan by $30, for 1GB more data per month. Even having to pay for Spotify it would still be a $200 a year saving

Start putting money aside for a new phone each month :P

after my double up data has been used up I will just pay off the phone i currently have and port my number over on the $50.

I will miss spotify but as I pay for youtube red (which has google music as a free add on) I will just transfer my playlists over.

This is what I did. Google Play Music is a far better product anyway. Also has a major advantage:

Taylor Swift alone is worth paying money for Google Play Music / YouTube Red.

This looks quite interesting to me as an existing Skinny customer but I feel very unsure about making the jump.

I have these sorts of thoughts going through my head right now:

Will roaming rates / packages keep in step with each other between Skinny proper / Direct (or at least remain competitive)
Are both apps of consistent quality? Will one fall to the wayside eventually?
Are all those 'little things' present that regular Skinny has? (Self-service SIM blocking etc)
I've been really happy with Skinny after making the jump not long ago, but honestly this kind of split feels a bit ugly.

I guess the concern is, Direct feels like it might be a little more niche. Will it still receive the same level of care / attention as the main brand? Will I end up wanting to hop back and forwards as you compete with yourselves?

Don't get me wrong, it looks like it could be really great. Skinny seem to be pushing out some really awesome stuff lately; this one just feels a bit weird.

We are committed to giving all our customers a great service, be they Skinny Mobile, Skinny Broadband or now Skinny Direct.

Customers have told us there is a demand for higher data plans and that those customers are typically comfortable to pay with a debit / credit card (many use an auto topup on Skinny Mobile) and to manage their account online. Hence Skinny Direct.

However we also realise there is still a large demand for the more traditional prepaid available with Skinny Mobile.

I was wondering how long it would take for a 'Bigpipe for mobile phones' to arrive but it has arrived and I've gone with the $30 deal so I end up saving $16 and get slightly more data than I used to. In terms of 'competition with themselves', I think it is more about catering for those of us who are happy not to have telephone support and just want a website to top up and be done with it.

Just got a call from Spark (oddly co-incidental) trying to discuss my current plan, asked about their data plans as an off-chance to see if there is any changes upcoming.

The guy advised the plans are changing as of tomorrow and the new limit should suit me a bit better (did provide me details.. but not going to jack the thread/sure if i'm allowed to post)

I was wondering this myself. Why not just add extra plans and payment option to skinny?

Next year , will there be a new Skinny direct direct provider? To undercut skinny direct.

I just find it confusing why they took this approach but the product itself is great.

I am on the $46 skinny plan with 2.5gb data -- why would i not go either to the $50 plan, or , the $30 plan? The $50 plan is a cunning price point, pay only $4 extra to get 3.5gb more data. Why would one not do this?

Logic. That is what I did. My plan was due to rollover in 6 days and I was running out of data so this was a welcome change.

Not rollover but enough data for me to not care about what I do anymore which is what I wanted. Went for the $50 plan. My data never rolled over on the $46 plan anyway and always had to use the data fairy to save me (would always get a text with an offer when I was running low).
