@invisibleman18 Where I'm from, it always pays to know someone on the inside. Wish they made UFB installations faster.

We're in Chch and we have an install date in mid-Jan even if this area is a fibre ready complex... Still need consent from owner of property they said...

Nice early Christmas present, just heard from Big Pipe that Chorus have obtained all consents so the neighbours must have all submitted it online after I gave them the link. Hopefully we can get it installed in the new year.

Just got Fibre installed on Monday and Bigpipe were awesome in keeping me up to date all the way through.

It took 2-3 weeks from requesting it to getting it installed.

The @Chorus techs were awesome as well and did a nice clean install of the fibre which the PVC piping compared to the unit upstairs having the Fibre tacked to there brick wall.

It did help with the quick install by having all 6 unit owners agreeing to have the fibre infrastructure installed a month ago in one install so the fibre was hung outside each unit then up to each unit to contact there ISP to get the rest done.

Pretty sure that's what happened with ours as we had the external cabling and ETP box installed on our house when our neighbour got connected. Despite trying to tell Chorus this and sending them photos showing it they still insisted on starting the consent process again from scratch. Guess when they eventually turn up they will see it, and hopefully then we can move onto the next stage a bit quicker.

For an update to the above Big Pipe told me about 3 weeks ago that Chorus had progressed onto the build and the ECD which apparently means estimated completion date was set for 17/01 which is today. Not heard any further or seen any sign of Chorus, so now waiting to hear another update.

Haven't been contacted by Chorus yet, but when I got home from work last night some orange markings had appeared on the driveway that were not there when I left so I assume that means they came and had a look yesterday.

Well the ECD was then changed to 02/02 which has now also been and gone with no contact or further update from Chorus. This all seems too much hassle for a rented place where I could just end up being given notice to move once it gets connected anyway. Thinking about cancelling and trying Vodafone ultra fast cable now since the house is already cable ready and I'm with them for ADSL anyway. Shouldn't be too much of a hassle to call them and ask for the switch and they advertise 3 day installs.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

I've been keeping an eye on this one for a while and it's starting to look a bit ridiculous. Sorry for all the hassle you've been through. Because fibre requires a build there's always going to be a bit of back-and-forth, but it shouldn't be this difficult or frustrating for you.

Can you please PM me your email address you use for Bigpipe and/or your case reference number? I'll get our team to find out just what is going on here, and we'll look at escalating it with Chorus.

Thanks, I've also posted on Game Planet forums and the Big Pipe guy over there was going to look into it (maybe that's also you?), but will PM my email anyway. Understand it's a big job with the build etc, but just seems weird they don't seem to know they have already done it for our house when they connected our neighbour. Unless there's further external wiring to do after the ETP is installed on the house then we should be ready for the internal connection.

Something finally seems to be happening. Just had a really confusing call from Chorus. First he called our landlord who told him to speak to me. Couldn’t really understand what he was saying due to his accent, and some interference and echo on the phone (and the call cut out once half way through the conversation), but I think the gist of it was that he is at the house now and was surprised to find the cables and ETP already there, but the box may need to be pulled down and placed somewhere else for some reason I didn’t catch.

Haven't heard any further since the confusing call a week ago and there's no sign of anything having been done. But in a twist of irony, this evening our phone line and ADSL went dead so called Vodafone and seems it's some sort of issue at our end and they will have to request Chorus to come and fix it. Thought it was just going to be an outage in our area or something they could sort over the phone so admit my heart sunk when he said Chorus. So guess that means we'll also be without ADSL for the foreseeable future now, although Vodafone have at least given me 100Gb of mobile data as part of their "always connected" promise.

Ah well, just got a text to say a technician will come to action the fault by 19:15 on 20/02. Quicker than I thought but I wouldn't expect anything to actually happen by then, unless maybe they have a duty to repair landlines quickly, I don't know.

And today is ECD number 3 (following 17/01 and 04/02), and still nothing appears to have happened. Feel like cancelling if I hear nothing today. Just not worth persevering with any further for a rented place where I could just end up being given notice to move any day after the long wait and end up back at square one. Try again sometime in the future if I ever have my own place and it's more worthwhile for me to get it done. Been looking at Vodafone Ultrafast Cable as I think the house already has the cable connection, but they only seem to be offering a 24 month contract which I'd prefer not to do when renting, so may as well just stick with ADSL which has served us fine.

Having virtually given up on it suddenly Chorus have just called to book a technician visit, and then an install date about 10 days later. I asked if they had on their records that the external work and ETP were already done and she said they didn't and could only see that an order had been made, but if it turns out it can all be done in the first appointment then it will be. It's another month away which is annoying, but at least sounds like it might actually happen now.

I didn't want to say anything until you'd seen a bit of progress, but after reading your last couple of posts here and on GP we made a few calls. Hopefully it will be much smoother from here on out.

We'll be keeping a close eye on your order, but if anything goes wrong again at your end please do PM me.
