Currently on Spark VDSL but I am moving house and thought it might be good to just get Naked Broadband as I don't need the landline.  Have unlimited mobile plan for calls/text and communications.

I am a gamer, places I am looking are VDSL.  Not sure on cabinet placement up where I am moving too, but I am only a few doors down from my cabinet and have a really satisfactory VDSL speed that I am happy with.

In the past I have been with Orcon and Vodafone and were never happy with them for gaming speeds and moved back to Telecom/Spark.

Just got all this Big Pipe brochures and stuff from Armageddon.

Look forward to your feedback.

Help desk email contact works well and is fast. Infinitely less frustrating than other isps I have used.
No traffic management, my squitty dsl pipes indeed seem big. Love em.

I just signed up to them and they're great, It was relatively smooth where I had a couple of issues during the switchover which they singled out was due to the static ip. They resolved the issue and I am getting stable and slightly even faster speeds than WXC (previous provider).

Ask around on their live chat to see if they have a current Grabone promo going for one month free and free install etc.

Alternatively you can sign up using my referral link as well :) https://www.bigpipe.co.nz/?referralCode=83b62d32-b068-4af2-ab1b-f433cfda5c21

I'm on Bigpipe UFB. No complaints.

Sign up and install was easy, and communication good.

Love them.

Been with them for about two years on UFB - speeds are fast and consistent, service/support has been good and prompt, pricing is good.

My bias aside, I'm in a flat of 3-4 heavy users who love gaming and we don't have any issues with latency or speed (albeit we're on UFB not VDSL, but the point still remains). Last night we had someone playing Overwatch, another on FFXIV, while I was playing Dota and didn't notice any degradation.

If you're a gamer and worried about latency on a particular game/region/server, let me know and can always do a couple of tests for you :)

Looking to get UFB now it's available to my house. Currently with Vodafone on ADSL (Wellington) though I understand they won't give you Fibre if you live in a cable area so will have to change ISP. Big Pipe looks a good option assuming I can keep the modem from Vodafone and not have to buy one. The modem is HG659 which looks to be the same as the $99 Big Pipe one so I assume this should work with Big Pipe shouldn't it?

How easy is it to sort out problems via email/online chat? My concern is having trouble setting it up (or the internet not working at some later time) and not being able to contact them until I'm at work the next day and have internet, so not being at home for them to walk me through any settings.

Switched from Vodafone to Bigpipe a couple of months ago (100/20 UFB). Changeover was painless (although Vodafone are still sending me monthly bills with a promise to rectify every time I complain!)

I haven't had to use the email help as yet.

Did you stick with the Vodafone modem or have your own one?

Also since I'm on ADSL would things go smoother if I was to first sign up for ADSL with Big Pipe then once connected upgrade to UFB? I gather it could be a big hassle trying to switch from ADSL with one ISP to UFB with another?

You dont have a phone with any data at all?

They have a Android/Apple app for your phone that lets you set things like traffic priority etc.

It also has a 'line test' component and a 'I need help' bit that guides you through some self help.

The app will take you to their web portal for logging a ticket if you need.

Generally UFB should be pretty solid though - so once its working you *should* be ok.

Dont forget - when you are getting UFB installed you will still have your ADSL until you cancel once the UFB is up and running.

You wouldnt normally cancel the old service until the new one is going. Thats the great thing about ADSL to UFB - no transitioning.

I'm really happy with my Gigabit connection. Support is great (they're here on Geekzone too) and they're gamers. You're in good hands switching to them.

If you use the deal from Grabone combined with the link in my signature (for a further $20 off) you're getting all the savings. With VDSL however consider getting a master filter installed especially if the house has more than one jackpoint as it'll help with your sync speed creating a cleaner line - to be honest, all VDSL installs should have a master filter.

But here is my Speedtest tax:

I have my own (pfsense box) which is overkill by a long shot, but fun to play with.

I was advised by a friend to wait for ufb to be installed and change providers which is exactly what I did :)

Bigpipe also have an app to allow you to prioritise or restrict traffic on your connection too. Great for gamers in house sharing situations.

Thanks for the useful info and link for the router setup. It didn't actually occur to me to use phone data so of course can do that to contact them if needed. I use Windows phone though so the app wouldn't be available to me, but should still be able to email them and access the website. I gather I could order UFB and just keep my Vodafone ADSL connection until it's connected, but would rather not end up having to pay 2 bills. Or is that pretty much unavoidable anyway if switch provider? I assume it's no big deal to upgrade to UFB from ADSL with the same provider to avoid this. Ideally I'd stick with the same provider, but I understand they won't give you Fibre if you live in a cable area which I do.

Actually just noticed they currently have the first month free on Grabone so that should avoid having to pay twice.
