For those going OMG and jumping ship.. the key phrase in the first post here is

Anyone wanting to stay on their current pack or plan, instead of a new Rollover option, can do so. Pay Monthly customers don’t need to do a thing to stay on the plan they have. The easiest way for Prepaid customers to ensure nothing changes, is to set their pack to auto renew each month.

Looks like you can ride the wave out for now with spotify until it breaks (gandfathered) as a trade off for the accrued data/calls for same price. So decision needs to be made. Free spotify on lower potential data, or more data with spotify additional.

If you don't renew by the end of the month, the plan usually goes into a Hold mode. Will that hold the Spotify Premium if I don't top up, until the hold is over?

Oh look, yet another cash grab from Spark moving renewal of the prepay packs to 28 days instead of a calendar month. Works out to be about an increase of $2.50 a month on average just to have carryover. :/

Edit: Anyone else notice that they deleted their original Facebook post about the changes because it was literally filled with at least a thousand people complaining within about two hours? lololol.

I wont be moving over. I have the spare seldom used spark sim on the $19 plan so I get the wifi and spotify, its only a few bucks more than spotify on its own. Half off only makes the total cost close to $30 a month if I keep paying for spotify. Not worth it to roll over, even considering that I barely touch the data on that sim as its in my tablet most of the time.

I did notice the "key phrase" but another user on the other thread posted "Just confirmed with Spark support that most of the existing plans (on account) will automatically get switched over to Rollover. For Prepaid they'll have to opt-in." Whether it's true or not, 4GB vs 10GB is not good value when you don't really need that 2nd spotify account, and taking into account how much data extras are even if I only need to buy one every now and then.

I guess the good thing with the open term plans is you can always move back if you find you don't like the other team.

Moving from monthly (or 30days) to 28 days basically adds an extra month to the year. Its an (in my opinion) underhand way to increase the price over the year.

Havent seen anyone else comment on this, so I'll add what I think the worst part of this change is:

That basically makes the $49 prepaid plan a non rollover plan and pretty much most of the paid monthly plans a bit moot. I wouldn't be signing up for any of this if I were shopping for a new plan.

This almost feels like an old Telecom move

I was hoping Spark would match 2deg's $79 25GB plan, but guess not. Not interested in the unlimited plan with tether restrictions.

If it weren't for my wife working at Spark and getting staff credit I'd probably switch, but last time I was on 2degs I wasn't overly impressed with the 4G speeds or coverage around Wellington

Well so far there haven't been any changes to that plan but as Theresa G once said the Telco industry makes a practice of mixing up pricing and features so that nothing can be directly compared - keep the customer confused.

So prepaid moves to 28 day cycles where as postpaid stays on a calander month

Roll over data is capped at a max of 3.5gb total and not 3.5gb per month (I assumed the latter)

"Unlimited data" is capped at 22gb but slows to a crawl after that so technically still unlimited but basically unusable

Postpaid plans keep Spotify premium where prepaid get 50% off now

No 10gb in the $50-$60 bracket plan to combat 2D and Skinny.... as I hoped for

Looks to me as I can migrate to a roll over plan from my existing postpaid and I lose nothing and gain a bit of roll over. Lacklustre Spark! but oh well, I don't lose anything so I guess I have that going for me.

People who have it. Cant watch low quality feed on CCTV when past 22 gigs, cant play spotify without setting to crap quality, youtube lucky to hit 480p but usually much worse.

22GB on a low quality CCTV stream sounds like an unintended use - This sounds like a mobile being setup as a fixed device streaming the source 24/7.

Past that, I'll throw my comments on these plans in:

Initially i saw the cost of Shares and was like woha, 29$? that seems a little high.

The 3.5GB limit on rollover, i personally feel should be adjusted, changed or something. I'm not a fan.

Mathing it out with my partner last night, to bring her into my mobile plan once i started looking at the 7.5GB + 1 sharer + 1 data share(hotspot)... This was the best value for networks i'd consider to cover all requirements (i would drop my VF Sim to skeleton usage in this case)

Single reason i have not jumped ship as of yet is, VF Still have me snatched in terms of being the only provider to have decent signal at home.. I'm considering a option to rectify this.

So overall, not bad plans.. few amendments i'd prefer to make but hey... Before that the Spark Plans weren't very interesting to myself, for the edge cases that i needed Sparks network to gain any data i had enough to get by.

I swapped my wife's open monthly plan over, we lose 250mb and 100 minutes but gain roll over and spotify. She doesn't use much data but when she does its heaps so hopefully she will use it when the roll over is high, ha ha.

It's a win for us.
