It's okay. JohnR is also a relic of the industry 😂
Further to my earlier post, yes I can confirm that as soon as my rollover occurred, because the bonus data is the next expiry date, it began to be used at last.
As @saenglish has indicated, the only way this actually works properly (and fairly) is if the bonus data expires on the same date as your rollover data, so that it always gets used first. I will contact Spark to get mine moved as well.
Well my old bonus data got to its end date, and I waited hoping that the new bonus data would start to be consumed. Spark had set the new bonus data to have the same date as the rollover data. Sadly I am still using my rollover data before my bonus data. So back on to the spark chat to get bonus data to have a anniversary date 1 day in front of rollover data as I first proposed. I guess Spark tried their best, they will just have to do better this time. @Allan How did you get on with Spark on this problem.
below is today's picture of data usage. As I said above had to wait until yesterday for old bonus data to run out before any new data usage could be seen.
I may have to bow to a previous responder with better knowledge of Spark than me.
Here is the last message I have had from spark:
"I hear and appreciate your concerns but it should be noted that the second 1GB you are receiving each month is bonus data. We are gifting this to you and this additional extra should help to ensure that you do not exceed your allocations and and have to eat into any rollover you accumulate. The current setup, which prioritizes the data which expires first is the fairest way to set things up and there are no plans to make changes to this at present.
Cheers ^Aidan"
I am hoping that this response has come from an ignorant person - and one that is not indicative of the rest of Spark. They only have to do one small thing and that is remove all my bonus data, and on the 10th of next month give me a new lot of bonus data. Problem fixed.
What I specifically like in the above is how it implies that I am being gifted the bonus data. Various plans from other companies.
Skinny $26 plan 2.5G rollover, $46 plan 10G rollover. (28 days)
2degrees $40 plan 3G rollover.
Vodafone $40 plan 3G rollover.
and of course Spark $39 plan oops only 1G rollover data, I see they now offer 1G of bonus data. At the time I got it they weren't doing that. So now it might nearly be time to take up peoples advice and just change to a better competitor.
Linux: 2Degrees & Vodafone doing 50% off for 6 months but no rollover on VodafoneNZ and no free on-net callingNo roll over yet... when will they wake up and smell the coffee

You could say the same for $5 daily roaming fantastic vf only offer

Appears I now have a different response from Spark to the one listed above. I have a message from Scott saying that they will look further into the situation. So 20 days later, at least one attempt to fix it from Sparks end by people less ignorant than Aidan, I am back to waiting again :-) Nothing like perseverance haha. (I know, just change companies)
It appears I have overdone my perseverance. Now I have two people at Spark why both have the same plan. They have deleted my bonus data, and have a plan to renew it on the 9th or 10th. This should mean that for all but 2 days the bonus data will have an earlier renewal date than the rollover. Hopefully it all happens. So it does appear that Aidan at Spark really was just an unhelpful ignorant person and there are others at Spark who are more willing to try and solve a problem for a customer. Hopefully I will know if it works in a couple of weeks.
HI,
Well after all my attempts and sparks efforts, I now have something that is working correctly. Spark finally managed to get my bonus data expire date to be 1 day in front of my rollover data. The bonus data is now being used first. Well done the people at spark who were willing to help, the people at spark and elsewhere who said I couldn't get this change, not so much. Now at the end of each month, my bonus data will be all used, some of my rollover data (or all) will be used and any left over will roll over as it should.
regards
