It's to do with the free 2GB weekends.

Every Friday 2 texts are sent, one to say it's getting close to start of 2GB, and another shortly after to say it's here.

From what I can see the act does not mention about repetitive messages.

I use some of the data so I'm happy for trade off of two texts, for the free data, but I can see for others how it would be over top.

If I was upset I'd still complain to DIA, let them interpret the law.

Edit: Just went through texts, it's one text a week. Just the one nearly here.

i know it happens every friday at 5pm, i dont need a reminder of it, and wish to have the option to stop the message.

I'm also having the same problem! Disabled texts and selected only emails. Very annoying

Edit: Skinny's response after they told me to turn off promotional notifications in settings (which I've already done): "Unfortunately, there isn't any further options to turn off this notification"

Hey!

Unfortunately it looks like there may have been some miscommunication on our end, we’re sorry about that!

Some SMS notifications are able to be turned off, but we’ve set up the Free Data Weekends notifications in our system as a ‘service’ message because they notify you of a change in your plan when the Free Data Weekend kicks in. As these are service messages you aren’t able to “opt-out” yourself.

If you don’t want to receive them, we can disable them for you. Simply reach out so we can get your account details and manually disable them. Shoot us a PM on Facebook, chat to us online or give us a call on 0800 475 4669 and we can do this for you.

Sorry you’ve felt they were coming too frequently, we just want to let people know about their free data! Hope you have been enjoying yours

I work for Skinny, but I don't post in my capacity as a Skinny representative. Any comments made are personal opinion and do not reflect on the position my employer may have.

I dont care about free data notifications either . Ive got unused data coming out my ears allready
I'd rather not get un-needed promotional txt's . When I here the txt notification on my ph, I have to stop what Im doing & go & check it, in case its actually important

This is why I left 2 degrees : because of their spam txt's . Please just stop it .

Received this notification again this evening, hopefully for the last time.

I had no success using the online chat feature. The person clearly didn't understand what I was talking about, and he was quite rude and condescending IMO, repeatedly indicating I could turn it off myself, even after referring him to the @SkinnySquad post on Geekzone... "Actually you can also do it online and its pretty easy."

He eventually asked for my phone number (which was provided when I used the chat form, so that should be unnecessary), at which point I gave up and called the 0800 number. I spoke to a lady who seemed very helpful, and after some clarification of what messages I was referring to, said she'd e-mail the support team to get it done. She mentioned the message this evening may still come through.

Online support clearly lack knowledge and basic comprehension skills, and this process needs to be made a lot easier.

@SkinnySquad

Your marketing team are up to no good again, please beat them in to submission. Just received my first text from Skinny since the May T&C update, telling me about "free" data between now and March 2020.

Looks like a new promotion cancels out the stop from last one.

I’m happy to get the texts as will use the 2 gigs in weekend, but those that are not happy should be able to reply stop.

@SirHumphreyAppleby I work in Skinny product with @SkinnySquad. He's not able to check GZ for the next few days.

I've been over to the marketing team to talk about this - they're looking into it and will touch base with you tomorrow.
