Why does Spark bother with rollover data? It has a limit of 3.5GB at any time. They clearly have the capability why not just allow limitless rollover?

@tardtasticx The bean counters in the business don't like true 12 month carryover like 2degrees offer!

The same bean counters say it's OK for Skinny.

I moved to Spark from Vodafone a couple of years ago and am much happier with the service I now get but as I also qualify for Kiwi Heroes I'll be looking at shifting to 2degrees once my mobile and broadband contracts are up in another 6 months.

Spark say I get Lightbox and Spotify "free" at the moment but I see the restrictiveness of my mobile plan as actually being the payment for these, and I don't watch Lightbox anyway.

Moving to 2degrees I'd get:
- truckloads more mobile data (plus I can share it without paying extra fees)
- $200 credit for 12 month signup on broadband
- $10/month off broadband for having a pay monthly mobile plan which would give me
- $15/month savings on my current broadband plan
- massive broadband speed upgrade

I already pay separately for Netflix as the deal I signed up to Spark with has expired. Even with paying an extra $14.99/month for Spotify I'd easily come out on the winning side of the ledger.

However, thanks for the heads up @hio77 - I'll keep an eye out. It's gonna have to be something significant to keep me though.

Moving to entertainment plan will save you a bit on netflix(it's now bundled its not a voucher).

I'd recommend a chat with the center, they have a few options that exclude lightbox and Spotify.

What's the point of having these non-advertised plans? Most people shop for mobile or broadband plans by using comparison sites or manually working through different service provider websites. Not advertising certain plans and making them available only on request is just doing yourselves out of possible business.

Every time I've compared Skinny's prices with Spark's they still come out better despite the 'extra' month you have to pay for.

This is my savings on Unplan Entertainment Fibre 100 with Landline

FROM

'Fibre100 Broadband & Landline - Unlimited GB' plus Lightbox = $104.98/mth
plus Netflix separate payment to Netflix = $14.99/mth

Total per month = $119.97

Fibre100 Unplan Entertainment Plan & Landline including Netflix & Lightbox

Total per month (depending upon data usage)
= $108 (max/mth)
= $88 (min/mth)

SAVINGS

= $11.97/mth
= $ 31.97/mth

Thrown in for free are Lightbox and Spotify.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

My "bonus" addons with Spark have all run out so I've only got 4gig (plus a bit of rollover data) to share across 3 mobiles, the next tier up is the unlimited plans but I can't justify the extra $50 a month for it.

The spotify freebie I've got is great but I'm considering moving over to 2degrees unless Spark can give the data limit plans a boost

I suspect it has dependency on a system change for something, Mobile isnt my area so I'm not over all their deliverables.

Personally i'd love to see the plan i'm on improved..

That’s good we appreciate that. I think there’s some pretty fair comments on here around pricing and value for money, obviously no company can cater to every single person’s wants, but I think those two aspects play a pretty big part in the decision of who to go with.

I stay with Spark because of its reputation, coverage and cool name. Also its support is epic as they can usually save you $20 a month if you ask for it.

i agree, generally geekzone has quality feedback.

It's only really trolls that i filter out that are like

Because their network actually works and has consistently good data speeds. Rather than sparsely spread cells, or roaming to other carriers' towers.

I have been a Spark mobile customer for many years, it would be well over ten years. I have a short flirtation with Vodafone mobile an experience I am not keen to repeat. On the whole I have found Spark mobile to be reliable, good coverage and the support on the rare occasions I have needed it very good. Their prices are higher than others although the plan I am on is not too bad, that is $59pm which gives me unlimited calling and txt (Aus/NZ) 4GB rollover data sort of, a maximum of 3.5GB , Spark Wifi, Spotify and Lightbox. This is not bad value for money. I don't really use Lightbox but I use Spotify a lot and Spark Wifi when we are out and about.

I have the option to change to another provider (employment related) that I have not taken up which would cost around $38 per month for unlimited call and txt (Aus/NZ) and 6GB rollover data pm genuine. If I were to buy Spotify or similar the true cost would be around $53pm. Not a huge saving in real terms. So in my situation Spark is still reasonable and with out a compelling reason to move I see no real gain in doing so. Mileage for others of course will vary.
