You folks can use either

  • Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
  • Cloudflare DNS 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1

Switched to Google's DNS servers in Palmy, Spark Fibre and issue seems to be resolved. No outage error reported on Spark's website :/

I think they only update it if it's a mass/persistent fault or something, at least that's what I heard from Spark reps last time around.

Thanks Nigel, my boys will appreciate it :D Any chance of updating the Outages page as well? I just refreshed it but it says "no outages".

Nah just in the Windows settings, I have one of the silly Huawei white fibre modems that seems to bang its head against a brick wall every time I alter the settings, so I've opted for the safer route, alter my PC settings and hide from the wife.

Edit: Yea seems to be fixed now, back on Spark's DNS

Some quick testing. Seems to be fixed now. However testing is not exhaustive.

I guess I’m one of the lucky ones, no problems for me at all in Auckland.

An

ipconfig /flushdns

probably wouldn't go astray to force re-check queries too

Thanks everyone. We have found and addressed the issue and all servers are currently performing as expected.

FYI, as part of the RWC capacity build we are replacing our DNS infrastructure with a more distributed platform, more capacity and using some new functions to support better CDN balancing. The current system will be retired shortly.

Cheers - N
