Hi
Thought I would chime in and say that its been up and down for me all week, noticed issues Friday last week and its been nothing but problems with apple services since.
I am on Skinny Broadband
So it's affecting Skinny too? I changed back to auto dns to test and it's still not fixed. I'll go back to the Cloudflare dns for now. I'm not entirely comfortable using that dns (in terms of privacy) but it works.
This has been going on for over a week now and there's no mention of it on the outages page or Spark's social media. Only here on Geekzone. I bet there's a bunch of 'non-techie' customers out there getting frustrated. Especially as it seems to be affecting iOS and MacOS mail apps too.
@Benjip: Definitely still affecting me on Skinny. My HomePod is not having a good time, because of it.
Is there a way to change the DNS on the Spark “smart” modem rather than needing to do it on every device? Just until Spark gets their act together (for what I thought would have been a pretty high priority issue).
As per previous post in this topic:
Network > WAN > Edit PVC > WAN DNS Setting > change to No > enter new DNS Server1 > Save settings (at bottom of page)
leave DNS Server2 blank
To check setting: Overview > Network Status > Connection Status > DNS
In this case a forum Spark rep (cbrpilot) in this topic previously suggested to just use 210.55.111.1
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Hi everyone, I have not yet received confirmation that this is fixed, so if anyone has any relapses then please let me know.
I was fine at Coromandel Bach earlier this weekend with Spark VDSL but now back in Auckland with Spark Fibre and have the Apple account and access to store issue. Per others, turning off Wi-Fi works but clearly still a Spark issue.
Is there any chance this Spark DNS issue might be effecting OneDrive also as having some random syncing and download/upload issues on Windows 10 PCs (x2) also. Only periodic.
Thx
Jay
I've been having issues accessing both Apple and Microsoft services here in Auckland (Spark Fibre) for the last few weeks.
Still happening as of right now.
Getting intermittent issues accessing docs.microsoft.com, error is DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
Spark Fibre in WLG
I've noticed the same issue when accessing iCloud services, specifically, iCloud email via Mail.app where it comes up with the triangle icon with an escalation mark inside saying it cannot resolve the host name of the server. I've also noticed it occurring with Safari when trying to access web.skype.com where it would automatically transfer to login.skype.com and then the browser would come back saying that the hostname couldn't be resolve. Btw, I'm on Skinny Broadband - things were going well up until a week and a half ago.
Edit: I've also found websites not fully loading - Apple NZ HomePod mini page wouldn't load properly. I've since moved over to using Cloudflare's DNS servers and everything is now working like it should.

Still issues for me too today - on and off. Apple services, Microsoft particularly Onedrive and potentially even bank payments as some weird issues. I have just messaged @cbrpilot (Dave) to ask if he has any updates.
Yep us to, All Apple services, Microsoft (Onedrive is terrible) and yep banking issues
I'm now getting the following error message - is there an eta on when this issue will be resolved?

Hi everyone, just a quick update here. The issue would appear to be with an upstream content delivery provider not responding correctly to one of our DNS servers. We are working with that provider to get the issue sorted. I do not have an ETR at this stage.
Work-around for anyone impacted is to set your DNS to 210.55.111.1 which does not seem to be impacted.

Just had an update. Some changes were made last night. Keen to understand if this has fixed the issue for everyone, or if the issue is persisting? Can everyone who was having issues reply back here and advise if their apple/onedrive is now working without error?
@matisyahu it is hard to be sure whether the issue you are posting about above is related or not at this stage. Are you still having this issue?

Hi, got it sorted, it appears there was an issue with keychain which was causing Mail.app to fail to log into the iCloud SMTP - since it was occurring at the same time as the other problems I thought that they may have been related but I've since sorted out the issue on both computer and now everything is working normally. I haven't tried to see if there are any changes as I'm still on Cloudflare, i think I'll just stay with that since it is working without any problems.
